Why all of a sudden do you want a full cage huni,,,,,is it cos I scared you doing handbrakes in yours at the weekend

Ummmm please don't take the roof off the car,,,,Gus had more then enough trouble with only taking the sun roof out

The little kids ran down the street were shouting

"mum that nutter down the road is smahing his sunroof up against a lamp post"

(mothers say)

"dear lord, come in my dear and stay away from that bald nutter"

Nope a weld in one Gus

We never just bolt them to the floor in competition cars - for safety's sake we make proper feet for the cage legs, so they are attatched to the sill and a strengthened part of the floor section...... ala pic 1

Then the rear stay bar is modified (well specially made) to mount in a better and stronger place than on the rear wheel arch. You would be surprised how thin and weak that section of the car is ..... pic 2

Then the extra bars are added, 1 behind the dash, some up to the turret/strut tops and back, and 1 behind the seating compartment, and 1 as a rear strut brace.... pic 3

Then any extra's where needed, so in my case we used the extra tubing to make some proper seat rails and mountings.... pic 4

You have got to compromise safety with weight though at the end of the day and come up with a compromise. Those climbing frame cages are all well and good and superb pieces of kit, but unless done in T45 they weigh a ton. Its not there to be blingy .....

And yes Lee it took a whole weekend to get it in and fitted, although all the cardboard templates seen in pic 1 were made up 1 week in advance

Each to there own tho' Brom - some like them fitted to look bling and shiny and even hang lights off them Others do it for the real reason Lee's (and others) products are very good and have a specific market to cater for. No harm in one of them if the car is never used in anger or competition. We look at it differently as we may need it to do a job one day.
