saphs are a better road car. not so twitchy on the front end on our crappy roads
probably can be sorted with some mods to front suspension and arms though ?

buy a good one to start with thats my advice get underneath it and have a good look and a poke around. lots of nasties can be hidden buy an inch of underseal

The rust issues mine had was where it had shite accident repairs in the past ie osf wing being poorly welded on and not seam sealed to the inner wing causing corrosion. Also the nsr quater had a previous repair and they'd managed to seal up the drain holes. Apart from that she was solid...all the original panels are like new. A basic rule of thumb is the more you spend the more you'll save long term, and with the recent upsurge in people wanting 3drs the prices can only go up.

If you buy 1 just look after it. My cossie came with a full service history. I had a fault on my car,it used to cut out and then wouldnt start till about 5mins later. It turned out to be the fuel filter which had never been changed.

this is a very important point....i'm trying to sell mine at the minute, and have had alot of people saying, why is it this price when i can go on ebay and pick up a 4x4 saff for 4.5-5k

In most cases (not all) the expensive cars are expensive, not cos the owners are trying to rip anyone off but because we have seen ALOT of saffs at shows etc and there is a TRUE Difference between a 4k saff and a 6.5k one

by the best you can afford, but do it soon, prices are going up now, i have noticed of late, that really good 2WD saffs are starting to fetch better money that 4x4's now

my advice, just look at lots, dont buy the first one you see, look for rust, accident damage and general wear and tear...there are some good ones out there

Firstly ignore ANYONE who says they are unreliable!! they are only unreliable if not looked after properly..

show me another car that runs nearly double it's factory output in most cases, that is still going strong after 20yrs....even with skin flint owners!

on the 3dr they suffer from rust problems, electrics aren't particularly great nowadays either...original ECU isn't great either..but upgrading to L6 or L8 is easy enough.

the handling is 'slightly' nervous on the front end, but nothing major...mine is now fitted with 8x18's and seems fine tbh, the back end feels very stable and it's a great high speed cruiser.

original brakes are poo, and standard suspension is no good if you drive hard.

look for one that's had an engine rebuild, and if it hasn't (or there is no sign of one) look for heavy smoke under load, on overrun or even idling.

they use oil in most cases, unless they have had a recent build.

it's worth paying for a well maintained one in the long run.

You could buy one cheap but it will cost you a fortune to get how you want it.

how much do you want to pay for one?
