yet your trying to plan on stealing someones car ????

sorry if i take offence but thats the reason why i lost 10k on my cossie cause some pikey cunt waited till the tax disc ran out, came back to collect it and discovered it had been retaxed but stole the fucking thing anyway as he made the effort

understand i may find it a sore subject

BTW abandoned cars have NO tax,, before then its a car that someone dont use which happens alot

wait for the tax to run out THEN look into stealing it

not plan to get it ready when its just parked

dont care if you own the isle of white only a fucking pikey looks at taking things that aint theres

I think you can get a form from the post office to apply for a log book for it, you need reg and chassis number but thats in the windsceen any way then the DVLA contact the owner and if they don't clam it to be theres it's yours (I think) and the dvla will send you a log book.

And I'm no pikey but i do have a transit.

Dont hold me to this i maybe all wrong.

If a car was parked outside my house for 4 months gathering moss after being 'abandoned' I'd have popped the window long ago and moved the fucking thing !!!!

Is it not a possibility it was purely stolen, and the theif didn't spend months waiting for the tax to expire, only to find to their utter dismay it was retaxed when they returned after those months of waiting?

Maybe they knew nothing about it before the tax expired, them stumbled on it one night and decided to nick it?

Thats entirely feasible - not everything is a pre-planned conspiracy!

agee with both points made, whilst taxed it is someones car, but you didnt say anything about applying for it but once tax runs out it shouldnt be on the road so is thier own fault. could it have false plates on? iv heard top car thieves nick them, change plates and leave parked up incase car has tracker etc? maybe long shot. personally wouldnt get involved.

call it stealing!,call it using your innitiave!! but at end of the day if your car aint got any tax it shouldnt be parked on a public road.

If you aint got tax for your car then get it on a drive, garage or anywhere otherwise that car is gonna get towed away.

p.s not reffering to anyone when i say 'you' just generallizing thats all

the TAX man is the one the mans ment to be dealing with,, not some pikey trying to steal a car the month the tax runs out

saying they deserve it,,,, car tax,,,, what is that exactly and why should a bloke loose something hes paied for,,,, and why should ANY OF US get the benifits ???

bit like saying your house never had decent security thats why it was robbed

sorry but techncalitys are for pussys,,,,, you are taking what is NOT yours with out the owners consent,,, your actually asking someone else,,, IMO DVLA should only allow the people to ask the owners,, no reply then sorry but you cant have it

you shouldnt have to say NO for people not to steal your property

do you agree with squatters rights also ????,,,,, exact same technicality rules that if they dont break in they may enter,,,,,,, would you like a bloke moving in whilst your on holiday cause you left window open or would that be wrong ???

its legal though !!!

the legal channels aint the moral channels,, ok you claimed a cossie,,,, but its moraly wrong as you stolen a car,,, the person who owned it aint got a clue about it

IMO the way you should live your live,,, if you wouldnt want it happening to you,,, then dont do it to someone else,

dont care about the " i wouldnt let that happen"

if YOU was in hospital,,, mum died or anything and you overlooked the car thing, would you appriciate someone else taking it when ???

as said get a job that pays well and earn a living moraly

at the end of the day its their own fault for leaving it for too many months untaxed on the road. The police and DVLA wont consider your family being ill as an excuse, so its not an excuse if you try to claim their car and they get pissed off about it. If someone doesnt "steal" it then it would just be crushed anyway. Thats what I think

well the cops didnt think i was stealing when i asked them .........but anyway thats all history now.

ok fair enough if people think it was moraly wrong etc thats peoples opinion and there entitled to it but end of day i took advantage of an oppartunity and got lucky(by following the correct channels at the time) and i can bet others would deffo had done the same when they realised the type of car in question.

who was the chap on here who found a escort cosworth that was well out of roadtax and claimed it???

as weird as it sounds people do dissapear, die, go to prison, leave country etc and cars left on the street are quite common

its obv the cars not reported as stolen or wanted in connection with a dissapeared person or a crime etc as the old bill would of had it removed

if the car ends up still sat there ina few months time and its a good couple months out of tax.....

You can't do anything while it's taxed, if it is still there the council will put a not on it saying for it to be moved with in 14 days it it will be towed away, if it get's a notice on it then contact the council and say you'll move it fro them free of charge. everyones happy, then apply for a log book.

Can't beleive some people are dopey enough to think they can have a car "towed" they don't own just cause it's legally parked outside thier door, whoever does this towing would of course then be guilty of theft.
I assume that the people who makes these stupid comments have never in thier life parked outside a house, shop etc they don't own, because if you have have be careful there migh be another pillock about who wants your abandoned legally parked car towed, some on here need a serious reality check on this situation.
Fatc DVLA will not even take details of an untaxed car until at least 14 days has elapsed after expry date, I know as I report cars being driven with no tax all the time every single week, to DVLA (08000 325202) and to my local DVLA.
And the people who go without tax often have no other documents ie mot/insurance.
There are so many being reported every day now that DVLA have imposed a limit of two cars reported at a time, so some weeks I am phoning 5 times.
The POLICE do not want to know as it is a load of paperwork, and all they can do is to tell DVLA anyway.
Fact 2 If someone goes without tax, they can tax it the last day of the month in which it is expired as it is backdated to first day of the month anyway, if they put that date on the form/ask the po when they get tax, so they have paid anyway, this is the reason why the plod won't even look at it until at least a month overdue.
Fact 3 Roughly 20/25% of the cars that seem untaxed are not untaxed merely some people don't even bother to put up the new disc, and DVLA records can take up to three weeks for tax status to be corrected.
Fact 4 DVLA records are notoriously and seriously innacurate, as is the insuarance database, so can't be trusted.
