Default Humming noise when driving

Past couple of weeks iv noticed what i can only describe as a humming noise on my series 2.

It gets louder as i go faster, but not as the revs increase (same in any gear at same speed) It probably starts around 30 and is at its loudest around 60 then doesnt seem to get any worse after that.

Just to rule out exhaust or any thing, i turned the car off when i was driving and the noise was still there (bit of a stupid thing to do i know)

Could it be the tyres? They seem in alright condotion, or could be something like drive shafts?

Cheers for help, probably abit hard to understand without hearing it but just wondered if anyones come across this before

sounds like tyre noise to me... obviously something to do with the wheels and anything that turns at the speed you are going and not with the revs... are your tyres up to pressure?

i'd say wheel bearing too, does it get louder if you turn sharply one way, then quieter if you turn back the other way?

Yeah i check tyre pressures every few days at local garage.

Possible wheel bearing then, is the only way to check, to shake the wheel about abit and see if it moves?

Cheers for quick replys lads
