Default Focus TD

Mine seems to be creating alot of smoke on start up and when pulling away. Passed an MOT so can't be that bad, but I heard there's something that can replaced at a cost of pennies that should be changed at service time but rarely is that stops this ? No idea what, just seem to recall 'something'. Any ideas ?

Passing the MOT doesnt necessarily mean its fine as engine compontents aren't really tested? only emissions and fluid leaks etc as far as i know?

its the EGR valve, quite common on the focus diesels, gets all gummed up. Take it out and give it a thorough clean!
