Default Turbo'ing V8

Im not at all clued up on the question im gonna ask... someone has asked me and doesnt know where to turn for advice, so i said i'd ask you guys, see if you can help

Dude i work with has a rover V8 which he is gonna twin turbo. He wants to know how to balance the turbos so they both spin up together. Does he use just one valve for the two turbos? Or will they need to run completely independantly from each other!

please bare with me... i have no clue what im talking about

just run 1 turbo per side of the block?????

the actuators should plumb in together, turbo's might need ine tuning

but let a pro do it

SOME cars with twin turbos run a balancer pipe, a pipe that links the 2 manifolds to equalise the pressure in them both, to help stop turbo shuffle.

Dont bother tho, wont get that on a shonky rover v8 with 2 old cossie blowers bashed on it.

Jus make sure the actuators are same strength and wound in same amount, keep the piping to each actuator roughly same length, and thatl do.

Didnt think Andy Nicholls had any V8 experience, just the T16 rover turbo engine?

Certainly dont mention V8 on his site either

Janspeed used to build twin turbo 3.5 RV8's utilising 2 rotormaster turbo (not sure of spec) and retaining the SU carbs, however modified similar to the R5 GT.

Worth playing with if going DIY as it can prolly be done cheap enough if you're good with a welder. however if you want a blown V8 with torque you wanna look stateside. especially the chevy LS1 engine! a completely different league to the RV8

the 2.9 Cologne twin turbo TT kits are as itsmeagain describes, with the only difference is the intercooler has 2 paths for each bank but the walls between each path has small holes to help balance pressure and heat variations

Might wanna look at www.toohighpsi.com

SUs havent been used on RV8s for donkeys so id be 90% sure his would be Injection.

R5GTs run blow thru Solex carbs, Metro/Maestro/Montego Turbos used SUs tho.
All TT RV8s ive seen using SUs are mega old school jobs with the SUs before the turbos, ie suck thru, but can be done blow thru no doubt.

If you was going carb youd be better off jus using a 4barrel holley.

Id not use a Rover V8 at all myself, parts arnt cheap, and the engines nowt special, id rather use a 302 Ford V8, esp if going in a Sierra as it fits striaght in.

Also wanna be weary that after its installed you can change the plugs without removing the engine, as most these conversions ive seen you cant!
