true but it wasnt running 300bhp and it had 2 cats from the factory.

Its going to get a freshen up in the new year anyway but was just curious as to what the possible cause was. I rarely go that far up the rev range in 5th anyway so its not like it see's it everyday

Was going to say welcome to Cossie ownership but saw your sig!

I think Blue Smoke is turbo mate, I know alot of cossie's do smoke on overrun, just watch them at track days and when they are getting cained etc!

I'm with Dan though, if it didn't do it from factory then it shouldn't do it now...

Could be your valve stem oil seals, burning a bit of oil perhaps

SR20's very rarely have trouble with valve stem seals. Far more likely to be Turbo.

Can't remember what turbo is has Rob?

Its still on the standard T28 Christian. cars approaching 71k and the turbo has been running around a bar for at least 45 of those 71k's.

blue smoke + cossie= bad.
i had the same issues of a small puff of blue smoke on over run that slowly got worse until it was belching blue smoke when sitting idling at traffic lights. most embarrasing.
turned out to be the turbo as when i bought a new t34 from woodford garage the problem stopped. i had already had the piston rings and a recon head fitted previously so was discounting them. ive never seen a cossie yet that didnt puff a little during hard use and people are always telling me not to worry as its not unusual for a cossie but as already said they shouldnt do it if everythings good.

not even the slighest puff of smoke.

I think i'm looking at a new turbo which is a million times better then say the rings as that would mean i'd have to buy some decent forged pistons (as it'd be rude not too) and then while the engine was in bits... some steel rods and a decent headgasket!

Seals in the tubo sounds favourite.

If its not that then stem seals.

I'm thinking of getting a compression test done, would this prove the rings and stem seals ok?

I cant really afford to be replacing bits if they dont need replacing
