going back a few years my old xr2 got broken into stole amp and bass speaker was just pleased they done no damage to the car 
but was still well pissed off with it all!!
my mates car got stolen as well but they used it for a night then relised what a pile of shit it was and parked it back up where he left it
it was a metro

It's the worst feeling when you come out and find that.
I remember my old 1963 Beetle, I had a decent Pioneer stereo with 6-disc Changer etc and some little fucking scrote-bag broke into that, but they put 2 screwdrivers under the 1/4-light and levered it out. The damage it did to the door was far harder to sort out than the stereo I lost. The doors on the 1963 were only that shape from 1957-1963 and are like absolute rocking-horse shit, ended up buying 3 sets before I got a good set.
It'll all look better once the glass is cleared up and replaced.

I didn't leave it on. It was in the glovebox.
On the bright side, if there is one........... is that even if the face was not in the car, they still destroyed the stereo trying to get it out. So, i'd be buying a new one regardless....

In an aquaintances case the stolen car audio was mysteriously returned in a large box to his work place
