Someone farted at the timing gear, creating a sidewind so strong that i had to break 50metres early, and a smell that made me all dizzy which was the reason i actually went accross the timing gear at 40mph. The car was doing 160 before that honest mate!

I doubt very much it will hit a genuine 150mph by an Ecu remap or even if the french foriegn legion have been buggering it, I think your £1000 is safe, I don't think matey will even bother showing up at all....

can't say i've been there and done that, but in my granny cossie (the 195 version like this guys) i could wind it up to around 135 within a fairly short distance
anything above that though took it's time
i ALMOST saw 150 on the clock, but that was in a LONG LONG bit of downhill somewhere on the other side of the tunnel

with his tyres (205/50/16) top gear (0.75:1) diff (3.64:1) and engine max rpm (6200) he'll be seeing just shy of 163 mph so ON PAPER, it's possible to do the 150

the real world though, is a totaly different matter

i say he'll get to about 138 and then see how good his brakes are (they are good on them grannys)

i think it's just that there are too many boards now to go to and most people just stick to the few that they know
but these sorts of threads do their bit to keep everyone in touch after a few months

i'll deffo be keeping an eye on this though, and if it's a weekend thing, i might be tempted to go and have a look myself

one more thing, we've got a book on how fast he'll go, but what about a book on which excuse he'll use when/if he doesn't get there or when/if he doesn't go past 150

just been reading this thread, is this not the granny that was in performance car a good few years back? i'm sure it is , it had been race tuned with 3.2 BBR engine conversion and huge valve racing heads, all steel bottom end with touring car racing manifolds and other fancy shit like that, actually as i write this ive just found the mag , its that car, same reg , its in the 1996 mag and the car made
304bhp with 342lb and did 0-60 in 6.3sec, 100 in 12.03, did the 1/4 in 13.07 @ 124mph according to their equipment which means the fukin thing flies matey, at the time it was quoted as the

right, i do not want to worry you, however , i was discussing this with a colleague and his father (who worked on the rs200 project ) and he informed me that about 15 granada's were heavily modified (engine wise) as they were testing different bits and pieces on them i.e suspension geometry, brakes, engine components etc and they had the engines putting out circa 250-300hp as they were trying to find out how reliable the lumps were because they kept shitting themselves apparently for no reason at all !!!

All of these vehicles were sold to employees at the time and are out there somewhere...... i just hope for your sake this isn't one of them, as when i mentioned where you were running it he said "180....no, 150.....yes but only if the bloke has the balls!!!

Just seen this thread posted on another forum (www.tech-tronix.com) so I had to come back with my 10p worth.

I owned a 3ltr Granada previously owned by and maintained by South Wales police. I did get 146 out of it on the M4 and I can say it wanted more.

I think 180 is a bit OTT but 150 and possibly more is possible.

Great forum and I'll be dropping in from time to time.

the only thing that i can possibly think of to make it look normal but go like shit off a shovel is that it could be the 3.7 ultimax power engineering special they used as a demo about 10 years ago
265 or 275 bhp and a shit load of torque MIGHT just make us eat our words
then again, it might just have go faster mats in it that gives it the extra 300 bhp
