be watching this with interest hope someone can get video footage of the granada blowing its engine 
would say your 1k is safe but in the unlikley event of him doing 150 you should then say double or quits for 180.....coz theres no way on this planet that thing did 180 in standard trim

i bet the granada owners speedo is a tad off and over reading hence the high speed claims.
my bro once borrowed a 1.6 cavalier through his work that went off the clock!!!(140) now thats funny. i heard a week after he took it back it had a bad engine fire!

having owned a few of these old 24valve buses i gotta be honest and say some of em are much quicker than others
i dont know why but they honestly are .
One of em wouldnt go over 110 but that was caused by a fooked cat , a couple of em wouldnt even reach 140 but one of em pulled past 155(on the clocks ) and felt like it had more left .
at brunters tho i think he's gna need a run up to get anywhere near it ! say he starts from the motorway -keeps going thru the gates and then up the strip he might have a chance

My 4x4 Sapph went off the clock with only 260bhp. So I would be a bit nervous if the bet is at 150mph.
Edited to say that if its n/a engine with only 220bhp your money is in the bank.

Phil, he does know its a limited distance but if he thinks it can do 180mph easy, then 150mph should be a piece of piss.

i was talking to a man at work about my old cossie,only stg1 268bhp and was very impressed with it,he said that he owned a cossie with 312bhp with just a chip and cams,bollox i said you need bigger injectors better inter cooler etc,he replied it aint got a turbo it was a 24v granny engine and it did 170mph with just a chip and cams,your money is safe,fair play on the man for taking the bet

My dad's got a 24V Granada and I've managed to wind it up to 150-155 on the speedo (Probably about 140ish) but it took about three miles to do it!
I would be very, very surprised if this car did 150 at Brunters.
Are you allowing a run up or does it have to be from standing start?
