Default L8 ecu retard wires - MSD Chip

Anyone know how many degrees it is on each of the wires normally on one of Stu's off the shelf greens + T3 chips.

Is it still standard (cant think why he would change it)

Thought I would post here as I know he is likely to be busy still after his holiday and thought someone else might know.

Chip,

I couldnt log on from where I was earlier but tried to text you but you
have probably changed your number. LOL

Using pin 11 as the ground.....

Pin 13 when grounded by itself will give 2 degrees retard.

Pin 14 when grounded by itself will give 4 degrees retard.

Both pins grounded together will give 8 degrees retard NOT 6 !

This works on L6 and L8 (and some P8's)

I have indeed changed number mate, I will PM you my new one.

Thanks very much for that info.

When you say "using pin 11 as the ground" I assume I can use ANY earth point as ground?

As im aiming to ground the pin with my nitrous controller instead of directly.
Obviously if it HAS to be to pin 11 for some reason I can do that on a relay.

Thanks for the reply

8 degrees is FAR too much, 2 is all I will require as im only going to be using at most 100bhp of nitrous anyway.

But yes im aware it can be anything you want, which is why I wanted to know what Stu sets them to by default.

Gareth, you will have to come down and have a go of it, assuming this snotty old smokey YB I through together as a quick fix to last a couple of months over 1 year and a half ago is still in one piece after the nitrous goes through it too.
Im after building a proper motor at some point, but made the decision that while this one is still going well I would just carry on using it anyway, so the nitrous is my next step towards trying to make something break at last as kicking its face in with a 2 bar+ boost spike does nothing and it just laughs at me and takes it, lol

Left as standard on off the shelf chips pal.

Be aware for future reference though that any L8 ALS and launch Control software you come across of mine has had this routine re written to control other features.

What about your coilpack conversion?
I assume that leaves pin 13 and 14 as they are?

Can you PM me with some links to info about exactly whats involved, as that would sort my spark issues that i am having now.

hmm, tempting, although 400 quid isnt really in the spirit of my current "see what I can get a scrapper engine to do for no money" way of thinking, lol

Do you do a mates rates price for cash?

Serious question though, do you know if the loom is the same on this as it is for the RP Labs L8?
