E46 316i SE
Anyone know what power a 2001 Y reg E46 316i SE will have? Apparently he's saying its 115bhp but i thought it was a bit less?

Yes they may be slow, but as PT said, a 320's not going to be rapid either! Not everyone buys on outright performance, other things have to be taken into account which is why they build a whole range, is it not?

but returns well over 40mpg day-in day-out
and isnt as slow as you'd think
(just doesnt have that nice six cylinder noise of the 320)

i had a 520i 6 cylinder 24v on a H plate, went well, sounded well on full chat.
when you got it moving and you changed gear at high speed you could feel it lunge forward!

It's the 4 cylinder thing. All BMW's should have six cyliners minimum. Let's see a 318 or an ST220.......HMMMMM let me think. When you take total cost (purchase and running costs). I think the ST220 would come out cheaper. People who have 316 and 318 BMW's are the sort of people who would buy a turd if it had a BMW badge on it and that is why they need a slap.

Thats all well and good for people like me and you mate who can probably afford to insure something bigger/quicker, but for the 19 year old in question, a 316/318 is all he can afford.
