i take it you mean they couldnt build a decent road car?
id still rather see his dream of the car he and djm designed being used in and winning rallys rather than any road car.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
you honestly never heard of the R4?
lots of info on the net about it mate and was loads of stuff on his site but has been taken down just now.
was his dream to build a car that can compete and beat wrc machinery for clubman money and with him and djm doing it was going to look likely hope it still goes ahead and im pretty sure it will

Ooh yeh. I think I remember something about this car.
Found some pics and links.

Still way over-priced: Ł130k. It is for a rally team really and not for a production 'in memory of' motor.

IF they were to.....i think scooby would be the best to have. the reason i started watching WRC was because of him, and getting into cars i think as well. the thing that sticks in my head is a blue car with gold wheels with his name plastered on mags or tv or posters etc.
ive always liked scooby's they do get slated by some people mainly fordies lol but i think the whole thing of watching Colin driving them about 10yrs ago left an impression on me. and yes i did love the look of the ford that he drove and used in Colin McRae PS game lol. but i just think the Subaru would come out with something decent

Will it be ford? If so what can they possibly release that would do his memory justice?

Haldex a Mk2 Focus ST and up the power to 300bhp. I'd buy one of them.

But lets be realistic, ford are NOT capable of building a decent 4wd rally car currently.
he drove a lot of fords during his career including a couple of sierra cosworths early on and hes got a mental spec mk2 escort, wonder how much thats worth now?
id like to see subaru do a special edition though if any because thats what hell allways be remembered for driving

Please can anyone quoting me from now on refer only to the idiotproof one below which I thought everone would realise I meant anyway TBH:
FORD ARENT CAPABLE OF BUILDING A ROAD GOING 4WD RALLY CAR FOR A PRICE THAT MAKES IT ECONOMICALLY VIABLE IN TERMS OF COMPETING WITH A SCOOBY OR EVO FOR BOTH VALUE FOR MONEY AND PERFORMANCE
Mind you, they cant build a fiesta or focus to comepte with a yaris either without making a loss on it, so really ford should probably just take the hint and shut up shop now and not wait till they go bankrupt soon.

I disagree Chip. I think Ford are very capable and they have a fantastic fast road car heritage.
Surely this is the excuse for them to now build the 300+ bhp 4x4 Focus that's been rumored for so long.....
I believe that they do have both the designers and the technology to build the right car.

If anyone should make a "special edition" i think it should be Subaru.
Colin made Subaru the house hold name that it is today,(unfortunately the chavs are making it more so).
Without Colin i do think that Subaru wouldnt be as famous as they are now,but then Richard came along and gave them a helping hand also.
Subaru made a good job of the RB320, lets hope they make as good a job for Colin as he deserves it just as much.

tbh i rember colin more in the mark 1 focus.but i still associate him with scooby.
ford could produce a version for him but it would have to be 300+bhp 4x4 and look like the rally car not the watered down shit we normally get.
but i also think scooby would produce a great one too.

I must admit even though he won the title in a scoob, I always picture him in the Martini Focus
I have a mate who works for ford, and he has seen a performance derivative focus...
As someone else said, if ever there was an excuse to bring it into production, winning the WRC twice on the trot would be it, and to have a LTD Edt CM variant would be a marketing dream...

I had a bit of a jolly out to Dunton last week; its where all the product development takes place for Europe. Saw the prototype Focus Cosworth, they also have a pretty sweet test track! Only freebies so far are some coffee mugs
