Nothing wrong with a group A one I don't think mate, you could use a WRC multilayer one, which is mega £££ and then you MUST be 100% sure the block and head are completely flat!

I've got a standard one with a wire rung block but obviously to do this you must have it all in bits and I don't know if you're planning on that or just literally changing the gasket?

group a will be fine for your spec kev but wrc as above is the best but its the cometic 1 that requires head block to be like glass the wrc is more forgiving

but in my opinion a waste of money at £375 when cometic can be had for £85 now

i run it with no issues

Why do a lot of the vendors selling the Cometics say the basic Cometic gasket is the high powered version Cometic list, when it isnt ?

Most seem to sell the cheap version, which is circa $86 from Cometic ?

Group a up to around 400bhp, they will handle this easy, there is onme cossie with 560 on a group a and done over 25,000 with it though.
They are better because they are fibrous material so, don't require a block skim unlike metal ones which really do.
Mountune ones are good, but not made by mountune though, if you insisted on a metal one.

I have just binned my Cometic one that lasted 1500 miles. I had decked the block and made sure the head was flat but it still went. If i was going to use one again i would get the head skimmed aswell just to be safe.

I bought a GrpA to fit, but Matt Lewis had a few Small Turbo ones for sale at Croft so i went for that instead.

whats the deal with the ST escos gasket? Is it better than the grpA gasket?

Reason i'm asking is i'm going to remove the head off of my engine soon to inspect and calculate C/R so would Ideally like to put a 'more than capable of 400bhp' gasket back on. and I have heard a few times that the GrpA type are on the limit at 400bhp.

Late Es Cos one is half the price of the group A item, and would apear to be a better spec:

Ohh right, Although the difference in the gasket doesnt seem to be arround the bore areas so I doubt it'd make much difference in power handling of the gasket.

However at half the price of a grpA i can afford to give it a go

Cheers

The reason it is half the price is because the composite is different and not as good, hence the REASON WHY they had to reinforce it around these areas!!
Victor Reinz also do a ONE PIECE metal for the cossie!!
