PassionFord Post Whore!!
The ramp rate is wrong for the car when it was done at RX works as this is shoot 3_R which controls the ramp rate diff than the Western and Motorworx,
Also RH 59 is diff than the RH53 on Petes I think this is the rpm cal for the RR again this will change the rpm graph but I will need to check up on this,Petes was calibrated on the Autronic Rpm scale,
The Important thing is Pete is very happy with the performance now as it is better and he is not saying there is lost TQ.

think we both need to go up to AVA and have a run on their rollers, they seem to produce full road conditions, but its a kick in the ass off 200 mile for me,nevermind u.........after actually looking at all my graphs i can see that i make full boost a lot sooner on the road....

Regards blaming the cams for low torque, remember they are quite a wild cam and hence inherently better at delivering power higher in the rpm range. Nevertheless when I mapped your car in Jim's ownership it made 390lbf ft at similar boost levels, so its a little low at 350lbf ft.
I'm still not quite sure why you did'nt discuss changing your turbo etc with me before changing your mgmt, but as long as you're happy that's what matters.

I have never seen a Universal Turbos T38 make any more than 360-370lb ft on even an engine dyno that can load the engine to the max, and as Mark has said, pumping loads of boost into the mid-range would do NOTHING, but increase the back-pressure.
If you want more mid-range torque, then fit a normal T34. You will instantly gain 30-40lb ft, but loose 30-40bhp. Alternatively fit a GT30 and then you will see the true potential of Mark's mapping, combined with Karl's engine .
Harvey has been so disappointed with the torque results of the T38, that he is currently experimenting with turbos to get one that actually does sit between a T34 and a T4 - as in one that it actually provides the expected power AND torque. Watch this space .

So when it comes to me selling my T38 then Mike i'm stuffed cus they're SHITE..
Seriously though, it drives ALOT smoother now and WHEN it does come on boost it goes VERY well.
I shall be changing though in a few months..

No, they're a very good turbo for making POWER and driving nicely .
You just don't get a big thud of mid-range torque, just a completely linear power curve .
In a 2wd car it will mean more power can be put to the ground without being wasted in wheel-spin, and on a 4x4 it will "help" the gearbox stay in one piece .

In defence of the Universal Turbo's T38........I think it does what it was built to do It was always designed as a 400bhp turbo, and was never designed for anything else. It has a beautiful linear torque curve, which is excellent on the road.
It does what it was built for, and if that's not the spec for your driving style or power that your looking for, then go to one of the GT range, or an equivalent.
