Hi, if I buy a car with a private plate, but the owner wants to keep the plate, what do I have to do??

Di I have to pay for the plate to come off, or does the new owner, any implications??

He does and he has to do all the paperwork and get a registration to put on the car he's selling.... by rights he shouldn't sell the car until he has applied for a new registration number for it.

 

My friend bought a car like this.

The owner paid the fee, sold the car to my friend, then he sent the forms
off nominating the plate back to the old owner.

Tbh, it would be far easier to let him/her get the plate off first then sell
the car to you imo..

 

buy the car send the log book in asap and u get to keep the private plate

any issue buying with it still on, as it is likely we will buy it tonight and he jasn't transfered it.

nothing can come back on you just fill in the change of owner send off the log book if it gets there before his application you get his reg
