Default do i pay back tax

As above iv had the car (project) just over a year but never signed the car into my name. About 5 mounth ago i sent off for the log book and no problems. but about 4 mounth ago i had a clamp put on my car for no tax and had to pay 200 to have i removed and 75 for not having tax The car was last taxed about 14 mounth ago. Do i have to pay from the date it was last taxed or from when i signed it into my name. HAS THIS HAPPEND TO ANYONE ON HERE any advise would be great

You are only liable from the date of aquistion, basic english law, other wise they could around the country picking on people to pay others debts.
DVLA a a waste of space, of the last 5 cars or so scrapped by myself 4 still appear as untaxed, over three years ago despite myself having letters from them saying they have received notification.
