Hi andy

did you break a 1st gear in the R+D not so long ago ?

hi spiky

nothing wrong with dave's box at all , it's his release clutch bearing that is fooked and thats got fook all to do with the box

you lot always seem to blame the box all the fooking time when there clearly nothing wrong with them

i get you lot a good product and all you lot do it is give it bad press all the time ,

same as the other gezza who owns the blue 600bhp escort @silverstone blamed the box striaght away and the after taking the gear box out it was his twin plate clutch was fooked

fook yourselfs from now on get another fooking box i have had enough of this shite

the only down fall with this box is it's still a syncromesh box thats it which was disigned for road/track day car

marco
yeah made an arse of a start and douuble clutched it took a tooth off first gear been the only problem i.ve had with the box and its done a lot now.
had no problems with the front diff at all.
hi andy
to be honest the box has lasted well im not knocking it in anyway

i know a few peeps that have had them some have lasted a long time some have failed in such a short time

one thing i like about the R+D it is a dog box

Bara could do a dog box we have talked about doing one but the only problem would be is demand if he was to have a few orders he most defo would go ahead and do a few but it would have to be at the right price to , too sell them

marco
if he did i'd give one ago

hi andy

if he does do one ,you would be the 1st person to test it as you do a hell of alot of trackdays not only your car has the power aswell

you would get it free of charge to test it and if it breaks dont worry about

ill just get it fixed send it back to you no cost

Cant say better than that

thats what we did with the first 3mullit gearboxes put them all in test cars first before releasing them to fix any bugs ect to get them 100%right

not many people do that to be honest

Unlucky Mike but atleast it is something quickly fixable.

Marco i have a good spare standard box now so should be looking at a mullit box towards the end of the year once the bill for the engine has been delt with

Marco,
You REALLY should learn to read and also REMEMBER what people say to you. When you said I was jumping the gun by blaming the box the FIRST time, I pointed out to you that I was attributing it to one of THREE transmission related things, the main input shaft, the front diff CWP OR the prop shaft . From the noise I knew it was ONE of those things, I never once on this forum attributed the blame to the 'box . When I pointed this out to you last time, you said "oh yeah, I see that now". How come a few days later, you're accusing me of blaming the 'box again , when I maintained the whole time that I wasn't sure which of the three things above it was going to be. However, I then posted up that I thought it was the diff after running it up on axle stands and getting underneath the car - but again, according to you, that is blaming the gearbox .

Dave,
It wasn't a matter of not wanting to waste any oil, it was the fact that I wanted to get the car to Harvey's before dropping the diff plate, as he is 75miles away from me, and if it turned out to be the diff (as I started to think it was after running it up on axle stands as per my original post), I didn't want the hassle of having to refit everything and then drop it all again at Harveys (where it needed to go to for a check-over after the 'Ring as it had an intermittant boost problem due to a sticking waste-gate) .

in fairness marco people are so used to the cossy 4x4 box eating itself that its going to be the first thing that pops into their mind- we just arn't used to relaiable boxes in our 4x4's

keep up the good work

Doug,
I have a good CWP out of my car (less than 20k miles of 227bhp ), so will use that until an R&D comes up again for sensible money (Tim Finch recently sold one for £1500). Don't really want to spend £3k on one .

Mike
you thought it was the box as Micheal escosracer posted a topic called "OUR BOYS @ THE RING " clearly stateing the box has gone

personally if the box had gone, theres no way you could have drove 500 mile home , not a chance

it's posts like that give the box bad press when clearly now we all know it wasn't the box ,thats what i mean , people just blaming the box striaght away .....

if any of your parts break on your cars why dont you find out first what has gone before you post or add something to an exhisting post what the problem was

ok now why dont you buy or get hold of a thickwall front diff casing and build standard open diff with a strenthing plate into the casing you might aswell shot peen the CWP should do the job

Marco you donkey, how can I control what OTHER people type ? When I posted up MY views, I clearly stated that I though that it was one of three items. And it COULD have been a tooth off the main input shaft and allowed you to drive home no problem as well (something else I have told you before ), so saying just because I drove home it couldn't be the gearbox is nonsensical . FFS, Martin has driven 150miles with no third gear at ALL .

You are clearly loosing your marbles, as I have posted NUMEROUS times about my diff, so for you:

1. It IS a Quaife thickwall casing .
2. It DOES have a diff plate on .
3. Going to an open diff made Porkie's car understeer MORE , so I will keep my ATB thanks :.
