I do like the way one bloke on there suggest that if they cant fix the car you shouldn't have to pay a penny for the time they spent trying ti sort the problem
What planet is he from? The rent and electric still needs to be paid weather they fix 1 car or 100 cars
And as for SCC having a bad rep??? WTF?!?!?!??! Best for miles round here

thats the only reason i put this up - to get both sides of story & hopefully sort it out quickly.
its never good if someone is slating a tuner and they never get to read it & cant respond!

yes true they are a good bunch of guys down at scc and if there is a problem it should always be sorted out with the company first before public slating commences

I would be pissed off if i took mine to a garage and they said they knew what the problem was and could fix it but after paying the bill finding out that its no better off...
On the other hand if I handed over the car not knowing what the problem was, and the garage also probably didn't know and said they would try a few things but couldn't reslove the problem, I would expect to pay for there time.

i second that
but then i never take my car to a garage, and pay the 50+vat rates garages charge, i'd rather do everythng i possible can then just get the fueling and mapping sorted

If only it was so simple.
Until you are on the other side of the counter, you wont appreciate just how it can be sometimes.
One car for example...............
High spec, high boost RS Turbo, and it's pinking. After repeatedly asking the guy whether he used Super Unleaded, and him saying yes, we had to turn the boost down to cure the pinking. Goes away slightly unhappy, and then mentions in passing that the pump he filled up with on the way here might have been normal crap unleaded from Sainsburys cos that's what he was told by his mate.
works both ways, and there's nearly ALWAYS two sides..............

The biggest problem when a car has....
1. Missfire
2. Overboost problem
3. Cutting out etc
is that it's not always the first thing you come across, sometimes you have to start back at basics and if you arn't told the FULL stury you can be there for hours and why if I spend 5 hours trying to fix a car can i not charge 5 hrs labour after all it took me 5 hrs to fix it???
1 example....... guy comes in with an intermitant fuel pump problem (don't worry Keith its not you) took hrs to find the problem and when we tell the customer the problem he says i know what caused that..... his mate had been fitting rear speakers and when putting a trim panel back put the screw straight thru the loom. Had he have told us that the problem started since stereo fitment in the first place we would have fouind problem in 5 minutes

not an easy job by any means!
i have a mate who is a really good mechanic and he's looked into entering the tuning world. he says mechanicing gives brilliant job satisfaction but the BIG downside of being a tuner is the customer service you have to provide! just not worth the hassle and i agree!
