Bank Charges.
Been trying to reclaim bank charges for Mum and have sent off the list of charges etc and recieved a letter this morning saying:
- Their charges are lawful etc.
- They've become involved with the OFT
- Say they need more time because their in talks with the FSA
- They say if I want to file for a court appearance the bank will ask me to 'stay my action' whilst they resolve the OFT shit.
What do I do now?
Cheers

How far have you got ?
If you have only sent off a few letters and not even made it as far as claiming in the small claims court then I wouldnt bother persuing it any further.
At present 7 of the major banks are working in conjunction with the OFT to stand a test case in the high court. Because of this the High Courts have put a stay of judgement on all cases that are currently running through the county courts. Bascially this means if there is a case at the county court then its 'on hold' until the test case at the High court has been taken care of.
This is expected to be anywhere between 12 months and 5 years !
I'm personally gutted as my two cases (worth a huge sum to myself) were stayed 2 weeks before there court date.

Nope they aren't bluffing. Despite all the claims against the banks being held the charges made against acounts are still taking place.
Barclays bounced a direct debit of mine as there wasn't enough money in my account by £3 at the end of the month. Stung me £35 for it, when teh direct debit was re-applied for they bounced it again and charegd me another £35 and then had the cheek to send a letter telling me I was overdrawn by £8 and they were charging me £35. £130 in charges because of £3, thieving bastards

thats about the time the High Court placed a stay on all current claims going through the Couty Court. However if you had already been made an offer then the banks had to honour it.
