Default T34's covering old ground

Whats the most bhp/torque you can expect to get out off a T34 on the limit.

id say your spec engine would probably make near on that power on a T34.63.

Paul, what have you got going thru your mind with all these turbo questions?

Paul, i had a .48 housing on my 3dr, made 363 bhp with similar torque and it was a fantastic road car, the punch you get with the .48 is fantastic, i'd rather have that than try and eek out another 30-40 bhp that has slightly more lag with the .63...jusy my opinion...BHP isn't always the answer..............

Got 406bhp and 428lb ft out of mine

Peaking at 35psi and holding 28psi,it lasted 6 months

That was with a 360 deg bearing and staggered seals

That was with a pair of BD10's,head work by Bluesprint,low-comp,4x4 plenum with spacer, live mapped on greys and L8 ECU

I'm not liking my T38 and I'm thinking of downgrading the turbo size, the T4 seems to make power in the same rev ranges as mine so would gain more power but no more drive abililty.

Think I'm getting to the stage where I don't want to chase figures and want a nicer car to drive

I felt like that with my T38 coming from a T34.48, felt laggy, but now it's been mapped peaking @ 35 psi it's fantastic, pulls really hard too.

it realy suprises me that you find the T38 as bad as you do, i used to love mine, always felt so strong and awesome to me!!

Paul, if your thinking of downgrading turbo size, would you consider selling me a small little item that you sourced not so long ago?

the thing with my engine is its gagging for a T4 or T38, its too low a CR for a t34 imo, i built the engine for the T4 i always wanted, but never got it

and for the price of my t34 mar-m i could have got one but decided against it

True, mine isn't really suited to my engine, Jim had a T4 on it originally but didn't like the lag so he PX it for this T38...

Now it's been mapped, it's fantastic, it feels really strong, comes in aroung 3.6 3.7, it's a Universal one..made 430 @ 1.7 bar, that was before the mapping last week, now at 2.4 bar, Karl reckons 450-460..

not if you are only after power, the .63 would be better ,and if you are not after power, but drivability the .48 would be better,

but if you want a good mix the .55 would be a good choice , its all about what YOU want

you would need to ask yourself the anti lag question though, as nobody seems to think they will stick it

Sort out what power you want then get the smallest turbo to make that power.

This is where people make the big Mistakes.

That is why people have odd specs

I wanted 370-380 BHP, nice fairly reliable power so went for a T34.55, makes a good road turbo.

If you want 400bhp your not going to fit a T34.48 (it wont make it)

If you want 450-460, forget the T34 full stop.

Choose your power then choose your turbo

If i was starting from scratch, it would be a roller bearing of some kind

400bhp and 400lbs would be ideal imo but responsive like a stage 3 set up

if i had to chose a new turbo i would not get a roller bearing tyoe ,because as far as i understand, if they go wrong ,its basicly disposable and very expensive to replace, can fail because of even slightly dirty oil ,where a standard type will still be ok,this means changing oil even more often and the bearing carriers are made of plastic, and can melt

Yeah then you can spend twice a year buying new ones! Pushing a T34 to the limit (which 400/400 would be) wouldnt see it last very long Paul!

Tell Harvey what you want, I'm sure he'd cater!
