help whats it off? 90% sure its an xr4x4 2.9 one? but a slim chance its from a 4x4 sapphire cos? how'd you tell? cheers

the 2.9 xr and the cos are the same mate as they have the same ratios

only the 2.0 dohc are different in ratios

i carnt remember

im sure someone will know the std ratio of a cos diff i think its 3.9

just looked it up aswell

3.6 std cos and 2.9 xr

3.9 on dohc 4x4

as above, should ideally be a 3.6. unless its the 2.0 DOHC!

Do you know how to count and work out the ratio?

is the bottom plate easily removable? if not you can still work it out fairly easily enough!

go on then how'd you work it out, without removing the bottom plate?

3.62:1 for the norm
3.92:1 for the dohc one

put a shft in either side and mark the position at the top
then mark the pionion
turn the pinion a few times and see how many turns it takes to turn the driveshafts 1 complete revolution
if it's nearly 4 then it's the dohc one
if it's just over 3 and a half then it's the 3.62:1 one

almost forgot, you've got to make sure the shafts that are spinning are both rotating at the same time, otherwise it will give you a false reading

and you've lost the locking tab for the bearing, find it and pu it back first before you use the diff
