Yep its a bummer, but to be honest, the facilaties are old and out of date.

You could have seen it happening eversince the first whispers of it being axed two years ago.

I don't think anyone can blame them for this decision tbh

How can you compare circuits like Bahrain to out dated silverstone?

Tis a sad day tho

Yeah but that being said how the f00k do crap circuits like Hungary stay on the map when silverstone does not?

At least silverstone makes for good races despite the poor facilities.

i agree with his reason totaly , even if F1 is about as interesting as watching grass grow , but , its just typical of this country's attitude to wards 'cars going fast' or motorsport .

allyou have to do is look how far behind we are with the venue , what a dump , esp when compared to all the new venues that have joined , how good do they look !!

but we get no government subsidy like all other countrys do to improve what weve got

now if we needed a new football stadium - well how much do ya need - no problem - oh infact were already getting one (still - and way over budjet) what a bout a sill fookin dome on the docks in london, hmmm i know we will open it for a year or two throw hmmm let me see 15billion POUNDS into it ( maybe more mem not as good as it used to be )

but a new track , for cars , to go fast , dont be fookin silly , or , only if we can put a few speed cameras on it , yes you can have it !!!

FOOKIN WANK COUNTRY simple as

I think this is a very sad day considering we invented the GP and
90% of teams are based in the uk !

I am not going to watch the ferrari ego swelling crap anymore .

I urged everyone to mail bomb the itv website and complain..

what is happengin to this country?! no F1, not rhe WRC last stage anymore, and tbh the coverage that was on tv this year was fookin appauling, they dont cancel eastenders and corra for the rally do they, but for a load of skinheads on the braincell share scheme kicking a ball round can take priority over ALL programming - they are gonna put tax on vehicles OFF road now aswell, so you pay tax when you buy the car, tax to run it, tax to fuel it ad tax to insure it, FFS!

I think it's that Ecclestone. Money grabbing with no love for the 'sport' of F1 anymore. Just money, money, money.

According to BBC news.... "Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone reportedly wanted Ł8.9m from race organisers the British Racing Drivers' Club to host the race. "

The whole F1 scene has just become too expensive and too much corporate hospitality. Whole thing spiraling out of control, with more money to host races, so ticket prices must be higher, drivers paid more etc etc and Bernie is just being a businessman I supposed and reaping the rewards.

They have 2 races in italy, why not get rid of one of them. Imola is no better a place than silverstone. Keep monza though, normally throws up a good race

tottaly agree with MarkK here, for instance we would never ever have a circuit and facilities like that shanghi track last week. That was the bollox

Really we have fook all here, not one top quality race track, not one proper national athletics stadiam and also not a proper football stadiam.

This is a shit country we live in

True but how much money does one person need. If some of that money was put into the teams there wouldn't be a problem of teams struggling and possibly not being on the grid next year. At the moment there is a small chance of there only being 7 teams next year

Too right Benn - this is the whole problem. Was recently reading Clarksons book and he waspointing out that the country is going to shit because we have nothing to be proud of any more. We have loads of lottery money being spent on crap like art projects, and we have nothing great anymore

At the end of the day I dont want the Governemnt pissing money away. Be it on the Dome, Wembley or Silverstone. The BRDC are SOLELY responsible for this. Bernie let them run for the last 2 years without carrying out the improvements they "promised" back in 2000. The cost of 8.9M is the LOWEST in the world.

All JYS does when hes asked is moan that its not his fault. Bollocks it isnt! The BRDC run very inefficiently. Its difficult to entice promoters to your company if you waste your income on flash tables and leather chairs! So no ones about to immently put their hands in their pockets.

The BRDC gave BE an ultimatum, we'll give you this much or nothing. He just called their bluff. Its a commercial decision. Why should Silverstone keep getting preferential treatment at the expense of other countries?

Oh and as for the question about why Hungary is still on the calendar. You can advertise FAGS there. Cars can run in FULL Marlboro, West or Lucky Strike livery. Cant do that in England.

Its a shame, I hope a promoter can be found. But be under no illusion BE made this sport what it is, so he gets to call the shots! Its NOT simply about money.

Wow, Rich,

I've read some naive stuff, but you tack the top prize mate! You don't think it's not about money? Grow up!

Ecclestone is a piece of shit destroying F1 (he is after all a barrister by profession).

I suggest you look into the history of F1 from the 70s to look into how BE took over the sport.

Dave Richards is doing the same to WRC....

Really? He bought the financial rights, and has changed the style of the events for shorter stages and less road miles. ITs about taking it foward, so its easier for a spectator to see a healthy dose of action, not just each car ONCE. Also means its easier for teams to compete, and the media to follow it.

Dear oh Dear Rich,

not a relative of BE are you?

Not about money?

The Britsh Grand Prix was full to capacity. Italy was, er not full, neither was China, Dubai, or well just about every Grand Prix except for Monaco and England.

So, why cancell the Britsih Grand prix, if, the facilities notwithstanding, the ciruit is full to capacity?

So what you (and BE) are saying is that provided that the circuit will pay then it doesnt matter where or when the GP will be held - for example, provided that the Cambodian government will subsidise the event and even if no spectators turns up then it doesn't matter, a Cambodian GP is next on the calendar?

Frankly I don't give a shit coz F1 is boring. I just hope WRC doesn't go the same way. If you think they changed the WRC format to suit the spectator then you have really lost the plot! The last thing they think about, in relation to fee-earning, is spectators, particularly as most WRC events are free, so why reorganise the event to make it easier for the non-paying spectator?

Get real!
