Default boxster problem, weird one!!!

my friend has just come back from a 3 week holiday to find the battery on his porsche flat

its in the front but he cant open either the boot, or the bonnet. it feels like the lever has been locked in place by something

its not a snapped cable, cos if it was it would still lift just not engage anything

he cannot open the boot or bonnet, anyone have any idea why this could be

help needed soon, as hes stuck with no car at the minute

cheers guys

rory

if it's due to lack of battery power they DONT open(strange I must admit) then jack the car up and connect a booster pack NOT jump leads of another car as that way may blow the ecu to the starter motor leads!

ps just had a thought that maybe the locks(c/locking) have a rod that until powered up dont release if you get what I mean!

Take the internal light out and connect a jump pack to the wiring, this will give enough juice to operate the central locking system.

If the ciggy lighter is permanent live(?) just put in power here for engough time to operate the CL, it does have DEFEAT mechanisms on the boot bonnet.
GET A NEW BATTERY!!
I had similar probs on mine(cos) in that the CL would not work when batt got flat, it is then I discovered that a previous owner had taken the rods off the locks to the key part so key did not unlock it, had to power up through boot light for 10 minutes to operate CL.

There is an emergency pull cable for bonnet. Its in drivers side front wheel arch. you need to take wheel off.

think u'll find theres a jump point in one of the foot wells.
after a week or 2 the power to the ecu's cuts so to save the battery.
old dear had probs on her's as she only uses one in a blue moon ( once every couple of months) and it shuts everything down to prolong battery life.

Just get one of those jump start leads that connects from one cigarette lighter socket to another and charges the battery.

Connect it up for 10-20 minutes and you should have enough juice to start the car.

Something like this:
