Thanks for the offer of the trailer Mike, i may be taking you up on that if i can find a tow vehicle and co-pilot

It will be back next year though, even Emma says i can come again .

Remind me never to take Mike for a passenger lap again

Hi lads

just seen this god some of you dont half get your wires crossed

glad you all had a good time

theres a few things i would like to add about the box that is in Mikes car

this was the box that was fitted to in Porkies 3dr and it's the test box

this box has the just the big tooth kit nothing else

no uprated mainshaft, no uprated Center VC no uprated first gear

when Harvy Gibbs was mapping the car the front bearing colapsed on the first motion shaft which then caused damage to the 4th ,as that gear is right beside the bearing

the car was sent to Martins via transporter the box was taken out asap then was sent to baras

The box was striped down and repaird with new 4th gear and new front standard bearing .

Bara did it striaght away within a day sent it to Martin then fitted it back in the car ready for the ring

i sent Mike a few texts to see how he was getting on ,

i did ask him is the box ok

he said no it's failed in some way but it's still driving and it's really loud/noisey

i personally think it's the standard mainshaft that has chiped a few teeth off it

Bara will get the box back and strip it down to see whats wrong with it

one thing ill say about Bara he will be genuine about it

people forget that know one has payed anything for this box it's just a test box

if the standard vc's lets go or the standard mainshafts lets go or even standard bearings colapse

that has nothiong to do with the big tooth kit

thats is the standard box design fault

when a kit is fitted there are loads of options for the box like uprated center VC , uprated mainshaft , uprated first gear , uprated bearings

all at extra cost

the box has done well then considering its not got the other uprated bits in it.

i guess Mikes box will have to have the uprated parts in it now.

good service by Bara too.

Marco,
You've just repeated what Martin said .

Also, I would just like to point out that I DO have the uprated 60Nm centre VC fitted . Your memory is failing, as YOU took it to Bara for me to have uprated .

I'm hoping it is something simple, so am not jumping to conclusions, but the fact that it does it in every gear and is both engine and road speed related (the noise gets faster the higher the gear you are in), leads me to "guess" at the main input shaft either having a chip on one of the teeth or losing one completely (NOT the standard main shaft). The Ford main shaft doesn't even have any teeth on it anyway, and if it breaks, you lose ALL drive - it either works or it doesn't . And I thought I knew nothing about gearboxes .

ALTERNATIVELY, it could even be the front diff having chipped a tooth off the CWP, as that could possible make the same speed/rpm related noise, or a problem with the front prop?

I'm going to get it on axle stands tomorrow night and have a good root round and listen to where the noise is actually coming from first .

The service I have had from both Martin and Bara has been absolutely top notch and cannot be faulted in any way. If needs be, then I will happily be guinea pig for any potential uprated parts, as my car has more bottom end grunt than most, due to it's relatively small turbo and high torque rating .

I think it would be easier to listen first, rather than dumping all the oil out for potentially no reason .

as well as wearing bad shoes/socks etc your tight too with money.

whats a litre of diff oil cost.

got to check it sometime, and you could always put a bucket under the diff to catch the oil.

It's only just been put in though, and is Ł15 a litre Mobil SHC . Obviously if I HAVE to dump it, I will, but for the sake of jacking the car up onto axle stands, I'd rather investigate first .

hi mike

your right about the vc sorry i have lost track who has what ect

i never read all the posts mike sorry i was just putting people in the picture thats all

there are bigger bearings for the box they are not cheap tho

how far does Bara go on the box fitting this and that uprated part ?

46 kits/boxes been sold and yours has been the only one to give any trouble really

steve fitz, Vc messed up /

irish lad Blue escort cos clutch fooked up everyone said it was the box at silverstone which it wasn't

berine built one for a customer of his , he machined a bit extra off the 5th gear then started to jump out of 5th

they have been pretty built proof saying that as you know no motorsport box will last forever you know that even the fix it will die at some point

if it is the box it will be sorted ill ask bara to see about uprated bearings for it

When you looking at getting the car home?

had a quick peek thru the norfolk site and saw that you were in motion of sorting out a trailer etc!
