its not the fuel saving, as you say you aint goin save that much, its different and aint like a donky old diesel anymore, its a performance diesel a great engine... revs quickly and well just not high

the torque is so impressive..

WHY??????????????????????????????????????????????? ??

Maybe a great engine... but it sounds wank doesn't rev and is NOT as good as the amazing 335i

And what will you save a year on fuel... Ł500 maybe??? whoop de foooooooooooking do!
More like why wouldn’t you buy a diesel? They are faster, quieter, return more MPG and have better residuals than their petrol counterparts, at least thats the case with new BMW’s.

Do you think I would say this if I have not driven one?

Was trying to get my ex missus to dump her X5 3.0D for a 4.8i for a Cayenne Turbo and she was like oooh nooo... the fuel costs!!!!

I showed her EXACTLY how much she would save... she was SHOCKED!!!

she thought it was thousands and thousands a year

THATS the major reason residuals are higher.... DUMB ASS CUNTS who think that they are saving a FORTUNE driving a Diesel... your not at all unless you do intergalatic mileage.

Thats GREAT though... means you can get proper cars like X5 4.8is and Cayenne Turbos alot cheaper second hand because stooooopid people think the diesel will save them millions and so ignore the petrol ones

Modern diesels are lovely to drive, great low down torque, quiet in the car BUT soooo unsporty!!!!! You can't drop the windows or roof and here the engine make sexy noises!!! LESS FUN AND LESS ENJOYMENT!!! Can you imagine a Ferrari diesel??? nope....

THATS why I wouldn't want one in my beautiful SPORTS coupe!!!!

SO your arguments mean NOTHING to me!!!

faster?? NOPE
better MPG???.... wooohoo Ł500 extra a year!!!
Quieter?? NOPE
Better residuals??? means I get the bargain or a year old one. Thanks

TBH with you porkie untill now there hasnt been one petrol Turbo BMW since the 2002, so for anyone wanting to BMW with easy tuning capabilities it had to be the diesel turbo varients..

Bmw turbo diesles are widely accepted in the BMW tuning world and owners of them have just as much fun as there petrol counterparts, a modifier would most prob chose a 330d over the 330i model if he was planning on engine tuning, there are many companies who offer tuning for BMW diesel turbos and with BMW bringing out the 535d and 335d proving its what the public want...

i am on many BMW forums and no has frowned upon a diesel owner as they know the great and fantastic reasons for owning one

i know of 320d with 210bhp thats not bad for a 2.0 litre diesel!!!

people are getting close to 300bhp with just a re-map on the single turbo 330d so makes it with 430ib ft torque a brilliant alternative to the 330i which in e46 form only makes 230bhp!!

now with the 335d twin turbo in stock form making 286bhp and 428 ib ft its also a great car and after a re-map will have 340-350bhp and 530 ib ft torque, to put that into perspective the e60 v10 m5 has only 384ib ft torque, thats some major torque they can get out

i have quartered in high 13's over the ton stock and believe i could have done a mid 13 also, so after the re-map you would be looking at figures which are not to be sniffed at...

i know off the bmw forums v8 m5 owners who havent even broke into the 13's

people go crazy for blinkered people on this site, so please lets not be blinkered about these modern day ''Performance'' diesels

the BMW enthusiast community has welcomly accepted this new threat from the TD's and are enjoying the ensuing scrap

many companies have given up trying to crack the 335i ecu and i have heard birds wasnt without its problems.. an uneducated bmw enthusiast would buy the 335i with scope to tune but would soon realise its not so easy

if they did there homework the 335d is the way to go

guys in the BMW community have moved from e46 m3 to the 335d that must say something

i have only gone this far because you have thoroughly slated a fantastic car, now both the 335i and 335d are fantastic cars that go well and handle fantastically!! (cue the lack of LSD slating now ) No really they do handle very very well, i think in an USA magazine a 335i went round a track quicker than an RS4

thanks

Carl

the car is waay too expensive. M3 for M5 money IMHO.

Also - from what I have read, refined like an M5 as well.

so where is the M3?

The E46 was an absolute beast of a car. The new one just hasnt got me excited at all.

Roll on RS4 till BMW get their act together.

All above my opinion of course.

JJ

Agreed, V10 M5 for me ATM or RS4
