Default Transit Alternator Light Help

A friend of mine has a 90bhp DuraTorq diesel tranny van.

Ever since he bought it the alternator light has stayed illuminated when driving and yet the battery has never run flat.

I tested it yesterday & it was charging quite happily at 14.4v throughout the rev range, and yet the light was still lit.

I read somewhere that the drive-by wire switch attached to the accelerator pedal can cause this to happen if its faulty.

Is there anyway of testing this or is there anything else it could be???

pretty sure the light is ecu controlled. the three wires on the alternator plug go back to the ecu.

you will probably find a broken wire on this multi-plug.
