Default bmw problem can anyone help? wheel shake / wobble

i had the wheels balanced didnt make a difference i dont think its the discs, what i have noticed is when say tightening the front wheel nuts with a powerbar etc theres play in the bush as wheel moves forwards / backwards, im aware this is a real common problem on beemers its the rear wishbone bush yes? on e36 is it the one that has two bolts and it slides onto the arm?

secondly would this being worn create symptoms similar to wheel shake ie im getting wheel wobble at 40 odd mph hence i first thought balancing.

sorry its a bmw question on a ford forum but i tried to register on the bmw one just now and i have to wait for a sodding moderator to approve it so could be a day or so lol

if its the rear its the rear trailing arm bushes are fucked

if its the front and it feels like warped brakes then the front wishbones are fucked

theres also the chance its fucked the wheel bearing too ( as it does that )

wishbone is 30 to 40 quid from german swedish, traiing arm bushes fo the rear is 14 quid and the bearing is about 40 quid

hope that helps

ps i got a bm and i sell LOADS of these

na i done the trailing arm rear bushes last year its the front that has the wobble, its not under braking, if you coast you notice it, if power though you will hardly notice it, the thing is ive lived with the problem as slight ish, but im now gonna sell the car you hardly notice it if hold the wheel but if let it go at 40 mph it does shake side to side quite bad, bad enough to possibly put someone off anyway

it can only be either a bearing, tie rod end/rack end, wishbone and rearward wishbone bush,, the rest dont usually fail tbh

get the car in the air and test is the only way

I think 'furry' means the concentric/eccentric bush as the back of the FRONT wishbone like he said - not the RTAB in front of the rear wheel.

i.e. Part number 5 on this diagram below

That will give bad wheel shake problems if it's worn

By the way, if you're renewing these ( check out the balljoints on the wishbone itself as well at the same time for wear ) and you've got the concentric type bushes you can switch to the eccentric type bush ( as used on the 328 Sport/early M3/E36 with Avus pack ) and it gives you an extra 10mm or so wheelbase and maintains your front -ve camber on turn in for a bit longer.
Get your geo reset after though
