Default Oil filters, a question.....

just wondering.. do oil filters have one way valves in??

so oil dont drain back down thru the pump when engine is switched off..

if so, do All modern filters have them in?

sure i read something once about it, but not sure.

thanks!

they have bypass valves in them, so if the filter is blocked it doesnt stop the oil supply, just bypasses the filter and circulates dirty

some have valves in them to stop oil returning to the sump from the head, thus not starving the head of oil when you switch off

I see. thanks guys!

wondering if mine has one in. As im wondering about the best way of plumbing accusump in..

If the filter has a valve. then i can use one of the oil pressure sender holes (pugs have 2)
if not then i gotta use one of the hoses to the oil cooler and get a one way valve in that..

I have some nice piccies of a brand new EFL 298(cos 2wd) filter that I cut open about two weeks ago to have a look, if you want ?
Yes the FORD ones certainly do have a anti drain valve in them, but as I found are RUSTY inside, filter was three weeks old, kept in heated garage but rusty, and actual filter media was tiny, I will NOT be using them anymore.

Can you post them up please? It would be interesting to see, would all the filters be of the same design? I'm using an EFL 600 on my zetec. I was looking at the k&n oil filters before but wasn't sure if they were relying on brand name & spiel rather than function.
