Default really really urgent help needed.

ive just gone to open the petrol cap on my mk6 escort and thte key is turning in the lock, but the cap isnt coming out. there is no usual resistance where you feel the lock opening either, how can i get it off as im in desperate need of petrol. i just made it home from the garage on fumes as it is


any help greatly appreciated

I had this on my old fiesta, i had to bang a screwdriver in the lock and pull the cap off, then buy a new lock.

Your probably get a better response than that tho

did you just wack it in and turn it, or just wack it in and yank, theres loads of movement when i try and lean the cap over to get something behind it,

you could possibly run a large drill bit down the key hole and take it apart that way, ive done it a few times,

you can remove the guts from the lock and then just playy around and unlock it.

dont drill right through though as all the bits will go into the tank

Wacked it in and turned and pulled at the same time, took a while but it came off

that sounds quite tricky, im not the most careful of people at times with things like that. the fact id be nervous about doing it wont help. think i mite just go bang it with a screwdriver, at least no bits will get in the tank

drilling it wont damage the neck or bodywork its attached to though.

its not hard to drill 1 inch deep rather than 2 inches

done it, screwdeiver behind it in the gap. and lift. the pins folded and it just popped free. cheers guys
