You should NOT have Jim as your spokesperson!!!!!
The way it comes across is that the S8 was free!!!

The other problem I can see with selling your ecu WITH software, is as you say, once a few people start to melt their engines through lack of experience of mapping, they may start to slander your product which will be a real shame! You know the saying a bad workman always blames his tools!
If you need me to do any extra work/testing on your ecu/software please let me know as I'm quite happy to help out, and once I'm fully happy with the product will certainly try to put all my high power cars on your system! (customer budget dependant of course!)
I've been impressed by what I've seen so far, and if I can help in any way to make it more of a success I'll do all I can!!

Simon.....i am considering going 8 injectors now as i see that the 4 greys are not enuff for this turbo...in which case i need to spend Ł500 on a conversion to my ecu...so if you can let me test an 8 injector version of S8 with a chip that 95% correct...i will try it for a period then if i am happy i WILL buy at trade rate of course....if not then collins will get the dough..thats the best i can offer you if you want a diyer's feedback..ROFL.

its just that i (unlike you) have actually looked at the software
i see no problem with making the software freely downloadable... everyone else does this for aftermarket ECUs (well, i cant seem to find pectel software on the net, but im sure its out there on some dodgy ftp site somewhere) its one of the major pluspoints when moving away from OEM systems.
phil, i see you have changed your requirements since we first debated this, at first you stated you wished to adjust the ignition and fueling on your ECU and hence the reason why you bought the collins monitor. i see now that you have changed your reasons for buying this, which is cool, it also gives my argument less credit, whh works in your favour, congratulations...
i can admit that in your current setup you are probably saving some money short term which again is fine. just a few things.
your comment about the chips and livemapping is STILL incorrect, youre suggesting that youve saved money buying an off the shelf chip becasue it means you do not need a livemap... i disagree with this comment, and still beleive you require sucha service to get the best from your setup, as your chip can only be a compromise (but a comporomise that 99% of cossie owners use) i also disagree with the comment about the S8 requiring a livemap, this is also incorrect as a base map (not a chip, coz its all done on flash roms) could be given to you, and if one cannot be provided by secs, it would take someone with access to the L8 chip (ie a mapper or electronics wizz, as who else would have the equipment to program/read chips?) a short ammout of time to copy the information in the L8 map to the S8 map.

They are a bit more pricey but you should be able to do yourself a good deal.
Anyway, the spec is up to you....PM me the spec you decide upon
and I will sort something out for you.
