Default Water companies - question!

This might be a REALLY stupid question, so please forgive me

My water company is Three Valleys Water, and so far they have proved themselves to be a bunch of complete fuckwits seemingly incapable of doing anything right....

My question is - can you switch water companies like you can gas and electric?

I would have thought you couldn't, but then, it's not like your gas and leccy come from a different place to where it came from before, but you can chop and change "suppliers" as much as you like, month in month out with them....

Can I change water company?

Water companies suck ass. I have never even managed to speak to mine. They keep sending me letter saying they are going to turn the water off but I cant get through to them to set up direct debit and pay them. And also enquire as to why I am being charged flat rate when I have a water meter.

Incompetent monopolistic fucktards

Mate, I am having the same problem (tho fortunately no threatening to cut me off yet)

I moved in on April 1st, a Sunday, and on the Tuesday I rang em up to get an account set up (like I did with the leccy/gas, TV, etc, etc)

I couldn't get a meter reading as mine was all clogged up and full of condensation so was told "no problem, and engineer will be out in the next couple weeks to do it, then we'll send you the DD stuff"

No probs I thought!

A month went by, nothing.... So I rang up again. Got the same reply, so waited again...

Next month rang AGAIN... Was told they had the meter readings, and were in the process of setting up an account...

Great, I thought

Get a letter on the 30th July telling me for the period of 01 April to 29 May, I had used 47 thousand litres of water and was being charged £97!

I rang em up and told em to fuck off!

Get a letter through today saying "in response to a recent phonecall regarding unually high water consumption, a more accurate meter reading was obtained on the 26th July, which shows the inital reading was out by 41 (they claimed reading was 1051, new reading says 1010)

Odd that - I rang up on 30th and demanded an investigation so they write to me saying they followed it up and got a new reading on the 26th? How they fuck did they do that then? Hire Marty McFucking-Fly to do it??!?!?!?

Either way, I can just about read mine now and it looks like they got it right - seems to be 101 then the next number looks like it's halfway between the 0 and the 1, making the next full number 1011....

But I still have no idea what it was when I moved in

And when I spoke to them on the 30th I was told to expect a letter a couple weeks later. WITH THE FUCKING DD SET UP FORMS!!!!!

Which I have STILL NOT GOT!!!!!!!!

CUNTS

I don't think you can. I think it's just done depending on what area you're in. Not sure though

I was told they couldn't cut your water supply off, unless the property is unoccupied.

In my 1st house I only ever paid 1 water bill, in the last year of me living there, I was there for 7yrs!

some good water companies then!

They ARE NOT allowed to cut you off, it used to be the case but not any more.

tell them you will be in touch with OFWAT if they don't sort it out asap!
