Default Ipod help.......(Now with pic)

We have recently reformatted our PC and now when I plug Rosie's Ipod in, ITunes see's it and I can see the music list, but it is all 'Grey' and I cannot do anything with it. I can't add any music either.

This is the message I get.....

I am worried about choosing the wrong option and wiping the IPod.

Anyone help?

Its exactly as the message says. crappy itunes only allows you to sync with one itunes piece of software (to prevent piracy). now you've formatted, its lost the original itunes so to sync you will need to wipe it. thats the official answer anyway, but im sure there is a way around it.

If the library is the same one as the iPod was synced with and all the songs will be available, then you can erase it and then just copy over all the music again. If she created a playlist aswell, then the songlist is already there and its a 5 minute job to copy everything back.

Don't really see the problem

he wiped his hdd... so there was no software on it... the re-installed windows and i-tunes... the only way i can see you doing it is if you can 'log in' to itunes... i cant remember if you can or not...

if not you may have to search for some 3rd party software, like the winamp adapter... or just start from the beginning again with the music! if all the music is on the computer then that wouldnt be such a bad thing... just a lot of hastle... hth

Try something called Sharepod, it should let you pull all your tracks off the iPod onto the PC.

Aha I see, assumed the music would have been held on a separate drive.

Look for a program called Anapod Explorer. it'll let you browse the Ipod and take off the songs and store them somewhere on the PC.

Cheers
