Default Ford 302 Windsor (ie 5.0 V8) head bolts- Which ones where?!

As per title.

There are 10 per head, but 3 different lengths/types in that 20, and im confused what goes where!

There the longer ones, which go under the rocker cover, but in which holes?

Then there the smaller ones which go on the outsides as well as the inside, but what ones where as there 2 different types!?

Had a go at trying them all in different places to work it out, but still not sure!

Anyone know?!

there were only 2 sizes on mine, the smaller ones go on the exhaust side outside the rocker cover and the londer ones go on the five holes that are under the rocker cover...

u probably know this but you must use the correct washers and the outside ones need the sealant lube coz they are in the water jacket, inside ones just require moly lube

Thats strange/bad then

I have 3 sets that came out of mine, cant remember what went where

Long ones.

Short ones threaded till the end.

Short ones threaded some of the way.

And i didnt know about the water jacket thing either so that was a stroke of luck too. Where hell i get the shit for that then? Thatd explain all the crud I scraped off some of the bolts then!

Fuckinell

Long ones deffo fit either end under the rocker cover, but they all seem (just turning by hand) slighlty too long for the middle 3, tho obv meant for one of them at least, my guess the dead middle.

But now you say you only got 2 types, its confusing/bad

its ARP moly assembly lube for the long ones and ARP Teflon sealer for the short ones, i got mine for real steel, its only a few quid each tube and they last quite a while, 5-6 head swaps i'd estimate....

i'd probably just get a new set of ARPs if i were you, they are only Ł35 a set at least u know they will be correct
