what happened to the zetec s? if you're 17 then i would go for something small and cheap... you will almost be guaranteed to bump it! but it does depend on your budget for insurance! nothing above group 7 is your best bet!

but as above, its a vague questions... so a car would be good!

i bought a fiesta 1.8D with only 60k on the clock recently for less than Ł500, and its dirt cheap to insure (only 200 quid) even with all my ncb tied up in the cossies ins policy!

does 200 miles to Ł15 too

a 1.1 or 1.4d pug will be ceap in comparason! a 1.1 fezza would be good if you want ford...

basically anything small in size and small in engine will be good! but you will still be raped with insurance! if you can get something with an alarm and immmoboliser, that will lower your insurance! also pass plus will be good if you dont have any NCB!

i bought a pug 205 1.8 diesel. cost me Ł300 and around Ł600 to insure first time round. cost me Ł40 a month in fuel. and they are built like tanks. cant fault it at all.

yes its not the most "cool" car to have but if you prang it its a Ł300 car at end of day.

Unfortunately for a first car, the cost of your insurance will probably dictate that you stay in the "Up to 1400cc" bracket......which obviously limits your choice to the smaller cars.... But as some people have mentioned, so of the 1.4 Diesels have very impressive performance, and great milage....I'd look in that direction, until you gain some No Claims Bonus's and can then start looking at something more interesting. Unfortunately it's something we've all had to do when we first got our licences.
