Default T3 water cooling question

Right my FRST has broken cover once more but seeing as she's been stood since we moved I'm having a few issues with perished hoses

The car is running a Garret T3 stage 2 hybrid and when I did teh T3 conversion I retained the water cooling. Now I'm having some ball ache with some leaks and due to a lack of funds (don't you just love mortgages) I can't afford to go spending on hose kits.

I have been told on a couple of forumns to drop the water cooling. Now what I want to know is ;

Can I do this?
Is this likely to cause damage to the unit?
Should I blank the holes for the water cooling or leave them open?

Ditch the water cooling mate. I've never ran a T3 with water cooling. Never had one blow up because of it either!

But Ford made the Turbo water-cooled on the S2 for a reason.

I understand your reasons Oranoco and if you do decide to remove the water-cooling, there is no need to blank the holes on the turbo, but personally, I wouldn't take it off.

......... which surely was to prolong the life of the turbo, especially for customers who weren't particularly sympathetic to warm up and cool down procedures?

Since that doesn't apply in Steve's case, why would the water cooling?
