yeah car been built for nearly 20 years now by a very clever man called john beardmore from leeds area, my bro has had the car around 4 years now.
yeah it had a mildly tuned 3.5 rover v8 engine but was starting to become tired then the ls1 engine came up from a camero. around 320 bhp from a standard ls1 so sould be fun.

Is that the one the beardsmore brothers did originally?

Awesome idea putting a LS1 into something so light, should be insane!

Page from my well-thumbed copy of Street Machine, when it was featured back in 1990.

John and Robin Beardsmore are legends.

Good luck with the rebuild. I love this car!

legends is an understatement after having a look at their work.
i still cant believe john was only 19-20 years old when he built this.

the engine is geting a bigger cam, different headers and a huge carb to get power into the 400's.

That's nuts!

I remember one from an ancient Max Power's back page... (pre kits 'n' tits era )
Sure it was a Robin, and running either a YB or tuned Pinto... and it was popping a wheelie with the bonnet flying off in the process

The max power robin van had a 2.0 pinto in it.
Anyone remember the max power with the y reg turbo powered xr3's on the cover, one white, one blue with tiger stripes?
I cut the cars out of the cover and stuck them on my school book,oh those were the days!!!!!!!!
