Default 2wd cossie again or go 4x4?& what bhp needed?

would all you guys who have 2wd cossie's get another one or would you get a 4x4 instead?if you went back in time and knowing the cars now and what there like/and why?

also what kind of power would a 4x4 have to be to keep up with say a 350bhp 2wd-on the move?

just interested to know

i got 4wd after my 2wd crash, mainly as i'm gonna use it for track days and 2wd on track is stupid in wet, after all we do live in britain

though if i break to many thigns due to being 4wd, i will convert to 2wd

so are the 4x4's more prone to breaking?know what you mean about handling but what do you reckon a 4x4 would need to be level with a 350 2wd?most people i ask seem to say the 2wd's a lot more fun

4 grand for a gearbox after 350bhp,jesus christ ! so 2wd's defenatley a cheap alternative,are they a lot cheaper to maintain/run?

must confess the drag imposed on the cossie 4x4 system does seem much higher than on my evo, guys who run Rolling roads, calculate a much bigger trans loss with cossie 4x4's

i couldnt honestly make a comparison against a 350bhp 2wd to keep same pace, I guess you need like 12-15% more power outta the 4x4 to counter the extra transmission losses

nope on the evo's its about a 22% transmission loss, but when your making your 2wd / 4wd comparison bare in mind that you still do have trans losses albeit with two less wheels being powered

I reckon I have more fun than anyone else on this board with my conversion.

I run greens, a T34, and standard comp.

However, the car is caged, seam welded, runs coilovers, and I've just gone group A rear beam, adjustable TCAs etc etc......... 2wd, 300bhp, slicks, and a car that handles really well - will embarass a lot of supossedly quick cars.

real suspension costs money, you could always go mickey mouse like the previous owner of mine did and fit koni;s for about 400-500

proflex bushes throughout and address brake pads get something with high temp stopping power pagids or ferrodo Ds2500 pads etc
