Default map sensor question

would a faulty or wrongly wired up map sensor stop a car from sparking,its on an erst converted to efi ofab management

ok then cheers its just my mate is having a bit of trouble with his erst,he hasnt got a spark,hes tried the edis module still nothing,tried the coil pack and leads still nothing,i think hes trying the crank sensor next,because he hasnt got a later spec block hes using a sierra cvh bottom pulley and cps,the only thing is that the cps sensor isnt directly in line with the teeth on the bottom pulley but it only over hangs by about 3mm so would that cause a problem atall
