Are you sure it doesnt have a cat.

If its an import from japan, it will probally have a cat from that model year.

I would examine the exhaust if you havent already.

Some early manufacturer of cat equipped cars didnt have lambda sensors.

As I have ZERO experience of that range of cars cant say for sure

@ 68332: It ain't got a cat. Not unless it is a German-registered LHD special.

Either check your coolant as JTECHSAFF said or try changing to another fuel supplier.

I bet you are using BP or Esso fuel.

Its not got a cat.

Coolant seems fine and it runs fine, even though im running about 17psi and ragging the shit out of it.

Would that smell REALLY strong of sulpher/eggs?

Since its happened yesterday ive filled up 3 times, BP twice at different petrol stations, and a Texaco, seems to make no odds.

Not sure if this is any relation to yours, but the VAG 20vt's stink of sulphur when the coilpacks start going weak/fail.

just a thought... but i know that some cars have small tanks that filter some of the carbon and shit coming from the exhaust when being thrashed... then releases these when the engine is on idle, so as to reduce fuel consumption and to re-burn any unburnt stuff...

if your car has one, it might be full or the system not working, and its just sitting in your exhaust...

could be wrong about these... but it a thought to check out...

Found out why, as my car died on the way to work

Burning sulphuric acid from the battery, bizzare how the exhaust fumes were stinking too, but as the battery died and took everything with it, could see and smell the fried battery.
