Default Whats the difference between...

A Volvo T5 and a T5-R?

Been looking at getting 850 T5 Estate to run about in, and was just wondering what the differences are. Never had a Volvo before, what are they like to drive?

Peoples opinions welcome...

Thanks, Ed

Current T5-R maybe 4wd but i'm sure the 850 and earlier v70s were Fwd.

The early 850/V70 AWD was a 2.5 low pressure turbo with approx 200bhp.

When you say early, is a M reg an early one?

hmmm, i`m wanting an R me thinks.

Are they good engines in genaral, any common problams or anything. Trying to find a decent manual T5-R with lowish mileage might be a pain...

the R has better bodykit, wheels, and interior options its worth paying the extra because the regular T5's look shite
suspension is also different, along with many other things including embroidered R carpet mats, different coloured clocks/dials, best to sign up to www.vpcuk.org for the full information!!!
my info is based on V70's as ive never really looked at the 850's.

get a V70R matey, much more refined than the 850's

here is my old one (this was a FWD model):

such good value for money, id definitely get another one without a doubt!!!

this was my 3rd R, the 2 previous being one Saffron S70R and one Regent Red V70R excellent cars, i have nothing bad to say about them!!!

phase 1 V70R came in a FWD version (240BHP) & AWD version (250BHP with bigger 19T turbo + more), all phase 2 V70R's are AWD (300BHP )

V6 EDC
If your funds don't stretch to a newer v70, i think you'll find the 850 T5R will have all the same spec etc.

850 to v70 was just slight body mods rounding of edges slightly and interior dash/door cards became less edgy. Facelift if you like.

All good cars.

mine sold for Ł3700, it was hpi clear and in absolutely MINT conditon
that had 154,000 miles on the clock and run absolutely perfect! like a dream!!!

you can pick one up for around the Ł3k mark, but expect to spend about Ł500 on it trust me, its worth it!!! out of the 3 ive had, theyve never ever had problems, not once only thing to watch out for, is the front suspension bushes, track rod thingies, as they like to eat these quite often but same with any estate car that is about 10yrs old+!!!

they will run to about 220k+ on the same engine if serviced correctly, dont be afraid of high mileage ones, it means nothing on a well maintained volvo T5
