Default hot hatch to 2wd cossie-opinions/what to expect?

what should i expect from a big powered 2wd cossie,i'm pressuming the power will blow my mind? but what about the back end??are they easy to control when they loose it or is it a case of (i'm in the shite now)

my previous cars have been a couple of pug 205 gti's and a clio16v with nos about (200bhp)both cars were excellent handling and fairly easy to control when the back end stepped out(even at speed)am i in for a big shock when i get a cossie or what? i won't be dissapointed will i?(i know there differant types of cars but?)

some of you guys must have been on the same stepping stone as me,let me know your thoughts please guys

cheers fellows

if your goin' from fwd to big power rwd, then yes you are in for a shock, and if it really steps out you wont have time to think "im in the shite now"

i have just done the same thing i went from a crx vtec runabout which i got while the series 1 was off the road to a 2wd stage 1 saph. I think its how you want to drive it i have had mine all over the road in second gear in the dry, but on the other hand i have had 90% traction in the dry it is silly what a differance a little flick of the steering wheel makes. In the wet i dont even bother putting me foot down cause i have had it sideways to many times just driving mrs daisy. So dont go showing off to your local barry boys or you will come a cropper im sure

you're probably better going to an empty roundabout/carpark one night when noone is about and getting it sideways just to get to grips with it in case you do accidently get it sideways on the public road.

That's what i'd be doing anyway

depends what you think "big power" feels like mate!

i have had loads of quick boy racer cars,
most noticable ones are.........
190bhp mk1 uno turbo,
Turbo Technics 1900cc mk2 astra GTE (bored out 1800 single cam)
2.0 16v cav SRi 130 turbo x3
mk2 SRi with QED 175bhp 8v motor
fiesta RST (broke it on first day of ownership on the way home!!!!) had 195 chip and T3 3 days into owning the car due to cracking the turbo and manifold 2 and a half hours after gettin the car PMSL

cossies are in a different league, STD cossies are crap, HONEST!
stage 1 is quick.
stage 3 is MASSIVE torque increase!!!!

get the wallet out............. T34 hybrids, cams, headwork, live mapping, etc etc etc

mine on higher compression, cam changes, headwork, greys and running a pi55y T3 untill i get my new turbo off Turbo Technics!!!!
spun the wheels on the rollers at 426bhp so dunno if it correct or not....... feels like it!!!!

would be more damage if anitgher person was driving as he helped weigh it down a but, hence the mud dug in the ground

what you need is a Large open area to play in
when its sideways man is it wide
if you can slig it out and hold it there i rekon you can drive
if you cant then your driving the wrong car
wet road is just gonna end in tears end of
respect the power

driving in the wet is a piece of piss as far as im concerned, you naturally slow down with out thinking, and controlling the car is so much easlier
its in the dry where you have to be more careful, cos thats when you think you have more grip than you really have, and when it bites cos you are going to fast for the conditions its gonna bite hard, and throw you big time

As I said elsewhere. Start slow, go play somewhere. even think about what the car will do. Try and imagine what the transmission, weight transfer, yaw of the car etc etc are all doing as its happening. Imagine what would happen if you were to floor it before the apex, or on the exit. Use your brain.

Then take it steady till your used to it.

Dont be complacent
