Default when changing a head gasket do u ......

take head off with inlet off or take it off with it on then take it off when its off car to get it skimmed?

I've only done 2 and both times I took the head off with the manifolds still in place.

Piece of piss to then remove them when the head is off the car.

ive had 2 people messing me about on my Car so im going to do the head gasket fit a group a breather and get damaco to port the head and then start looking for evo4

i've always seen hea dremoved with manifolds intact...

i've done both ways.


easier to just leave on till off the car.

I'd detatch the manifold from the head personally, saves disturbing fuel lines etc.

i leave on because a few of the exhaust nuts are a NIGHTMARE to do whilst still in the car.

Agreed, i leave the exhaust manifold on the head too but the question was about the inlet manifold.
