It is JUST a set-up problem - NOTHING more!

Do NOT let anyone convince you that the car should be set to parrallel (Ford factory settings) or the car will be just as bad at high speed due to the bush deflection .
How dare you!!!!

What Staffi hasn't mentioned is that i put 12 months MOT on it for him, it originally failed due to a leaking rack..which is nothing major, these things happen...anyway i fitted the brand new rack yesterday and got it retested and Staffi took the car straight away, so the geometry is more than likely way out (although i marked it up as best i could when refitting).

So once he has it realigned it should be better ( i'd expect it to be at least 2-3mm out either side tbh )

i did take your advice actually Mike when i fitted the rear beam , but i only had 1mm TOE-IN on the front from memory....can't remember what the rear was set to ( the report is with the history folder).

Well 1mm is not 2mm .

At least Staffi now knows why it is wandering all over the place .

Hi Martin,

As you can see, I'm working hard in the office....LOL

How's the three door, Even though I've given you stick for selling the Sapphire, I must admit the three door does look superb. How was the drive home....Hope you didn't have to drive as far as you did in the Saph.

every mm counts i guess

tbh it was on my list of things to do, to have it re set-up.....i was happy with the way it handled, but it still had a tiny bit of understeer, which was fine cos you just back off and you get oversteer then bury the throttle lol...but the good thing about having everything adjustable is that you can keep playing til you get it how you want it

as said though, the rack being fitted will be the main cause

Hi Jim.

i'm actually really pleased with it, it drives very well, nice and smooth.

i have a few things i'm going to do straight away, and then a couple of things showed themself on the way home which i'll sort....one being i think it suffers from is heat getting on the starter or alternator wiring ( it struggled slightly when cranking it over when starting hot.

and i think it has a loose electrical connection somewhere....but nothing i can't sort and it gives me some use of my garage i guess

it was only an hour drive

I'm sure you'll have it all sorted by the time I get back (4 weeks....lol), and look forward to getting together again at one of the shows.....Now I have two cars to look at and drool over.

Check the main ht lead that goes to the starter, it may be a bit crusty if it's the original, and of course giving the earths a good clean may help. Starter motors do get tired, but it's an easy job to change them, and they're not too expensive.

Still looking around at 3drs myself, but this time I'll stay totally standard if I can find one. I didn't go for the MK Escort Track Car.....just too much money to have sat in a track car.

Congrats on the new car, looking forward to more pics. Must admit it's not a car that I've seen around before ....

I am not being funny and i might be totally alone on this, but it would have done my nut in you asking what i was doing with it all the while if i had bought it off you. For alot of Cosworth owners a 3dr is what they have allways wanted and it is Martins choice at the end of the day.
I know what you mean Nash

Unfortunately Jim you sound like someone who's far too over protective of their old car and cant let it go

I think everyone knows now its your old car

I've thought this for a while. That's why I suggested he changed the wheels in another thread so it made it more his own car.

No offence like..

Ha Ha....Guys, you could well be right, that's what happens when you own a car for 16yrs....It's not intentional though, and I know Martin & Staffi will tell me to shut up at some time......LOL.

It's called Cosworth Withdrawal Symptom.......But I'll get over it....

Now I'd better get back to work and try and get this damned BMW to go quicker, otherwise they'll both be flying past me, one after the other....LOL

You'll probably recognize the similarity to the Hocks.......
