Default anthercite powdercoat

quick question about this

is this a special colour?

as every powdercoaters i take my comps carnt do the colour

really need to get them redone but no one can match the colour

would be ok if compomotive prepped there wheels so it sticks but it just flakes off

ive got 2 places to try today who say they have anthercite but not with the black speccles the comps have

so will see later on if they can do them

but just curious as to why no one has it

I don't know why everyone is obsessed with Powder Coat.

It is likely that the finish on your wheels is wet-paint. Powder Coat is an industrial finish, in one colour, which is baked on, which is why you can't Powder Coat in Metallic.

I don't know but you have to be careful getting wheels powder coated because the high temps used to back the wheels can lead to them cracking. There are companies about that bake them at a low temp though

as christian has said, 99% of the time, they will be wet painted rather than coated.

They can do silver in coat, but it involves the colour then a laquer.

Powder coating is done in a oven at 185C, so will not affect strength etc of any wheel.
Powder coat can be done is different colours on the same piece, if you can find someone who can be bothered as keeping the powder colours seperate is a pain, and difficult as you can't do a sweep half way through.
Metallic CAN be done by adding particles before full bake has occured, ie when it is semi liquid and tacky as hell, these will need a sealing powder(clear) applied afterwards though so cost more.
Most decent places will chemically strip first any wheels etc being done.
Good places to check are places that do their own stuff in the colours you want, as it is only a case of jigging it up to do it.
Ie if you want red got to fire extinguisher manufacturers!!
