Default Can you lacquer powdercoat?

As above, sometimes if the metal is really bad or you just can't get a good finish, once powdercoated some parts seem to come out with almost a dull sort of finish.

To combat this I was wondering if you could lacquer the powdercoat to make it shine like paint?

If you can't then i'll just have the parts powdercoated and then primer/spray them as usual

Thanks

not sure mate, i presume they could do it to any colour as its just a process, they do it to silver in my coaters as it give a much nicer and deeper finish to the silver.

yes normal laquer would be fine to use, obviously it cant be used in the same process, but its fine to wet paint on.

Yep works a treat mate.

and if you spray brake cleaner or any other solvent onto powder coat it fucks it...

so this will help protect the powder coat.

Ive just had the front panel bar on the Fes powdercoated as a good primer then of to the paint shop for top coat.

You can get gloss and satin clear powders for getting an item to a finish you want.

I will ask about Satin Black, sometimes i'm limited to the colour shades of what he's got in stock, if I want a colour that he's not got in stock then a new pack of powdercoat is £200!! Like fuck am I paying that!

He's actually pretty good and turns it around in 24hrs without fail everytime, plus it's never more than £20 what I want done! Alot of local engineering firms use him too

The fuel to yours and back to bring and collect parts would cost me the same as getting an expensive job done down here!

We'll see mate, appreciate the offer, when I start the Series 1 we'll have to have a chat about it and do all the parts at once!

mine were powder coated with metalic colour and laquer
dont spray them laquer as the wheel paint would need to be stripped if you ever wanted to refurb them rather then straight forward powder coat again over the top.

I do need the wheels doing fella but mostly underside parts, I will probably mix some nice shiney silver and paint the wheels myself on the Series 1

Thanks fella

Dan, it's always been a mistery to me, although I think it has been on discovery!...

I painted normal out of the tin 2k paint over something i had that was powdercoated black. It reacted very badly! So test it on a small area or something else first!
