Wheeler Dealers
How crap is this programme.
The mechanic bloke is a total arse, and that Mike person just gave away a set of 16" BBS split rims for some crappy orginal porsche alloys that needed a refurb...
Not much of a dealer is he
Plus, he knows the sum total of fuck all about cars Why is he on TV?

lmao did ya see the one with the old merc and the pattern wing they bought for it?
was about a mile out so he sat bashing it and filling it to make it right then at the end he tells the buyer its had a new pattern wing which was a great fit

I find it quite entertaining.
I remember them doing a Capri and replacing the front wings due to rot but spraying them up really badly so it wasn't even close to a match. I wouldn't have touched it with a bargepole.

The thing with the BBS rims is, they were useless for what they were doing - putting something back to original doesn't mean adding or keeping someone elses afterthought.
It also shows that if you look hard enough, you can find rare parts that you'd otherwise give up on. They're not aiming for concourse, as they have a limited budget - from what I've seen, bufty's have an endless supply of cash that goes on pristine shrinkwrapped spares, and polish - these guys don't have that. They aim to buy a car, tidy it up (make it more presentable), and sell it on, for a profit or a small deficit.
I like watching it - the mechanic, Ed, has given me an insight (not necessarily a step by step How To) of how my Cossie was put back together. And TCA bushes on the Capri? I've never done anything like that, and he made it look easy enough to do that I thought "I can do that!"

he was a bit shocked i think
i tell you what though, some of the things he flogs on that show are a bit much, sure he knows what they are worth according to the book, but how long does he spend arsing about getting bits for them and then for ed's time to fit them and stuff?
he's a bit of a tool mind, but not as much of a tool as that other posh bloke who he used to do a show with, the guy was flogging a 2.9 4x4 sierra ghia estate and the goon was going on about how much 4 driveshafts cost to replace if they went wrong as the transmission was a known weak spot and how the 2.8 was a thristy engine
i can't knock ed for his work though, he does do a fair amount of fiddling with motors, and is the original originator of the driving table/bed/armchair/other odd creation/etc

It's really shocking what they don't know... But that Mike fella, knows less than my Mum about how a car is put together...
Honestly, what a prat

I can't see the point of it, as ED works effectively for free when you add in the total hours he spends on the cars, and MIKE B does not live in the real world prices wise.
I don't know many people who have a 4 poster lift either, would be more realistic to show some numpty with a bent half chewed screwdriver, and a couple of WW2 spanners doing it DIY, that would be worth watching as more real world, outside in the pouring rain.
I always think to myself when people ask CERTAIN questions, should they really be attempting the job they are asking about, ie resealing caliper as an example!!

I remember when I first started tinkering with cars did not have a 24mm spanner, so welded two flat sections of metal together and then angle ground a slot then filed out to 24mm.
It promptly broke, as it split in two, down the(crap) weld a piece stabbed me in the hand and I spent 4 hours in the A&E having 12 stitches!!
Now that is more like it!!

ps a VERY nice nurse did the stitching so not all bad I thought, until she put a needle right into the cut, F**k it hurt.

I think its pretty good tbh..
Its not for mechanics, or in this case, wannabe mechanics who think they know cars inside out.
Its for people with a general intrest in restoring, or tidying up cars.
Thats what they do, and they do it effectively.

I watched the one with the old alfa spider the other day, why the fuck would someone want one of them? New italian cars are fucking unreliable, old italian cars are REALLY fucking unreliable
I like that thing on home & leisure where they're building hotrod's in that workshop and they're always having a go at each other and threatening to kick the shit out of each other

anyone see the Beach Buggy one?
I sold an engine to the guy who was 'selling' the donor beetle.
Turn out he was Eds workshop manager.
Told me Ed had owned the car for 2 years before they used it, how they only did the buggy as one of the production staff wanted one, they built it in two weeks and Ed did nothing on it.
Complete BS.

shittest programme ever
he ends up making Ł300 on average at the end but how is that worth it as his mechanic must have spent a week working on it...... for Ł300 between the 2 of them, what a waste of time.
he always says to hold your ground when selling or buying motors but the fool always rolls over to the buyer... what a prick

as said at the begining of this post, several of the cars sold for a profit were forsale on ebay at the same time, same seller
quality program tho, for the budget of a shitter, and all the cash is really blown on hookers for mike and ed
