It simply boils down to finances. All you have to do is take a quick poll of the type of people that own Fords and then compare that to people that own the high powered Jap cars. I think you will find that the average wage of the Ford owners is somewhat down on that of the average wage of the Evo / Skyline owners .

Im not sure its that simple, I think a lot of it is the sort of people owning each.

Lots of "midlife crisis my wife just left me 45 year old ugly cunt" evo and scooby owners who think that now their dick doesnt work anymore their car needs to

Trouble is with most of this, most of the talk is guessing and presuming rather than knowing.
Just because cars are mental, it dont mean they never used on the road.
Id not be that suprised if for example the Norris Evo and Roger Clark Scooby (both of which I know get taken for regular road jaunts) have been driven more on the road in the last year or so than a lot of "road" cars on here.

And people moaning about it not being as good any more.
Well the fact its a million times busier than it was at the start says its better.
It wouldnt be that busy if it was full of ordinary but quick cars running 12s, 13s, 14s, etc etc like it used to be, people go to be wowed, times move on, what was impressive in TOTB1 wouldnt bat an eyelid now.

I dont think in the 4wd class there are any vauxhall platforms good enough to compete.

Rwd though they could easily do so though, with either a lotus carlton or a monaro, both of which have 800bhp+ potential

I'm sure Simon Norris, Clive Seddon and Kev Atkins will be chuffed to bits with that analogy of them

martins car once set up and running to its max is potentially better than almost the whole of the TOTB/TimeAttack competitiors in an all round sense, awesome motor.

broms car too in the RWD classes.

renton does well enough in the cossie in time attack with not the most amazing spec on earth, its not that cossies are bad at all, no excuses, the potentially the bollocks.

and there MANY other cars that have had similar amounts of money spent, tho maybe not so wisely.
and this isnt cossie love talking, no blinkers, just saying what i see
That is fucking spot on.
And don't fucking polish a cossie but drive to fuck out of it.
And some people here forget to setup up their cars the right way.

spot on, we dont need to take our cossies to totb to prove how good they are.
not getting into the argument at all but i think your trying to say that our cossies have more of a 'road presence' or 'stature' than the jap stuff which is so so true cos you see an escos and druel but wouldnt even notice an evo lol. but end of the day the evos etc are miles further advanced . . . obviously as theres about a 14 year difference!!?
im a massive fan of fords, mainly the RS models

why is it that i find most general public these days dont even know what a "cosworth" is
however when you mention something like "evo" or "impreza", everyone seems to understand what you're on about

i would say that the modern jap cars have a lot more (as you say) "road presence" and only in an RS fans eyes, does the cossie win this argument
