Good ADSL providers...
Anyone reccommend any? Fed up of Nildrams unreliable service
How do you go about changing providers too, is it just a case of telling a new provider to make the connection active on x date that the other one stops?

You need to tell your present supplier that you are stopping the contract and then you have to do your cancellation time.
What they must give you is a MAC CODE, MIGRATE AWAY CODE, you will NOT be able to hook a new ISP up without it, give this to your new ISP job done.
Stay away from TISCALI, that's all I can say.

whatever you do stay well away from BT, they are CUNTS. If you need to contact them you end up speaking to someone in Ubakastan who hasn't got a fucking clue.
We're with plusnet, and they are brill. All UK call centres too, your never in a queue or put on hold when you ring them, and the speed and stability of connection is top notch

agreed, pipex are one of the last PROPER isps... you wont go wrong with them.
i'm personally with Virgin media (cable) and have always been impressed with the service (from a technical standpoint, customer service is the worse i've ever seen!)
unfortunately now Virgin have started introducing traffic throttling, which drops the speed to an unacceptable level. If it wasnt fopr the fact that they upgraded me for free i would have told them to f**k off
(i was on the 4mb package which throttled down to 1mb after 3Gb of usage - now i'm on the 20mb package which throttles down to 4mb, so i'm no worse off than i was)
ps with 20meg broadband it takes me 4 minutes to download a movie

Think Pipex was expensive. Will look @ them again though. Nildram does my fucking head in. Was fine up intill 2-3 week ago, now its terrible! customer service is bad too, all they say is line test then when that says fuck all they aint got a clue.
Still cant understand why sometimes i can only get on this site and no others..

Bumping this old thread to the top.
I've been offered a deal from Pipex that seems REALLY good, they will reduce the anytime cals from £12.50 to £4.99 and throw the net in for nothing ! We use Tesco broadband and if I ever download anything it plays havoc with the internet for days after, plus it will randomly switch off when it feels like.
Are Pipex still as highly rated as they were at the time of this thread
