Default New Hoover - Recommendations?

Our current upright hoover is err...fucked.... mainly my fault for booting it the other day, but it needed replacing anyway

Don't want a Dyson, can't bring myself to spend much money on something that is for, at the end of the day, cleaning up muck (Same goes for buying expensive cat litter...don't see the logic). Plus the Dyson i have used before was utter shite and wouldnt pick up properly.

I'm no expert on hoovers, much less know how to operate one, hence the last one being buggered. We have two flights of stairs in our house, am i right in thinking that it's easier to do stairs with a cylinder style vac rather than an upright? As uprights have a habit of falling on your head

What do i need to look for? Are there any that are especially good at picking up pet hair, as we have two cats who seem to leave fluff everywhere

House is all carpeted (short pile), apart from kitchen and bathroom are lino, and front room which is laminate wood stuff, both flights of stairs are carpeted also

Recommend me a new vac please

Dyson DC14 Animal - 5 years warranty - so the price is worth it, just over Ł200 at the moment!

Get a sebo, you will not be disapointed they last forever and are so quiet and condition your carpet...my friend runs a vacuum cleaner sales and repair shop and he said that dyson's have made has business prosper as they are so shit...he showed me around the back of shop and he has about 50 dysons stacked up for spares whereas he has never had a sebo back for repair in 18 years of running business, just for servicing. This is the one to get http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEBO-X4-EXTRA-...QQcmdZViewItem

I can totally recommend a BISSELL 3750 E.
1600 watts, lift off bag less, 3 filters, HEPA filter, BRUSH/BRUSHLESS, press bag and go ie press button and it separates so you lug just the VERY light collector and pipes up the stairs, honestly light as a feather, height adjustment, turn brush off for wooden floor etc.
And the best bit is they are not expensive, about Ł180.
Also ace for the car!!
The only thing I would say is that because it picks up so well, it needs the filters cleaning once a week, two are washable, one a replacy one but I just blow them all out with the airline and it works perfect.
Also BISSELL carpet shampooers are ace, do cars as well, but top one is Ł400, well worth it though.

We have a Dyson DC15. It is awesome.

5-year warranty too. Can't be beaten IMO, realistically.

Suck up all sorts, our old office used to have fllods and it would still have a go at soggy carpets!!

Every office in the world has one and mines sitting chuckling away under the stairs as we speak, it's knows it's the daddy

Dave I can't believe you're on here asking about a fucking hoover

Did you figure you'd score major points by finding a good one and suggesting it?

Man you're tossing it off at home "sick" with your hayfever, go out and look for one!
